Predictable course routine, does a great job breaking down difficult concepts, makes a point to learn all his students names!! This course, no matter who you take it from, is a lot of work. Took McMillian last sem but had to drop. Both follow same syllabus but Kelcher is more personable, flexible, and not a stickler for mundane detail.

He is a really nice professor. Extremely helpful. It's only 1.5 hours lecture so it is limited what we can discuss in class. However, I read all chapters and pretty much do all the hw, thus I have an A so far.. Ochem is like a new language. Really gotta understand and practice a lot.. Lab is very interesting btw..

made me interested in chem. lectures goes at a slow, clear pace when explaining problems. must read book. mindmaps sucks. tests are not easy, but r fair. study hard, read book, and ask questions (he also very approachable).a REAL teacher who truly cares bout being effective teacher. be warned: dept final is not easy so do well on tests/exams!

Best Chemistry teacher I have ever had. Professor Kelcher is very down to Earth and a cool guy. His class is hard and you have a lot of time in but the outcome is worth while. I am not a fan of Chemistry but if you put in the time you will learn a lot. Highly recommend.

you need to teach yourself the material. so if you get easily frustrated, because you aren't able to figure out the hw that he hasnt gone over yet, dont take this class. he also calls on people during class, so dont think you can get away with not doing the hw. dont rely solely on the lecture to do well on the exams. i wish i was warned...

You will need to have about 30 hours a week for homework and teaching yourself out of the book. His quiz and test are fair but he partial points on everything and even with all the right answers you can possibly end up with a D for not having the proper set up. Completely anal about setup and not showing work. Doesn't give extra credit at all

He is extremely helpful and patient. As long as you put in the effort, he will meet you and help clarify concepts. His grading is fair and the tests aren't too difficult. The only complaint is that the final is the ACS final and so much preparation is required to do well. I highly recommend Kelcher at SAC for any CHEM course!

He is a good professor. He would love to answer your questions. If you spend time reading the book, it is easy to get an A. He just try to scare you in the first 2 weeks. Later on, you'll see he's very easy.

Not the best prof, but a nice guy. Lots of work. Weekely quizes, h/w and he puts you on the spot in class and lab by asking you about them. Exams are ok. He is fair. Keep ontop of ur work and attend lectures and be enthusiastic and you will pass with an A/ B. He will try to intimidate you the first 2 weeks if the class is full. Very approachable th

Do the mindmaps, they help! He practically gives away test question answers. Really helpful if you don't understand something. Just pay attention in class so you're not caught off-guard when he randomly calls on people!! If you do all the homework, it is an "easy" A.

Like the previous comment mentioned, Professor Kelcher is very fair. His teaching style is very clear and he is willing to clarify on material that you do not understand by providing extra examples. One thing that will determine your success in this class is to stay on top of the workload especially the homework and the due dates for the labs.

Very Very difficult and unfair professor! Do not take him unless you feel like getting humiliated in class. He puts you on the spot and embarasses you for not knowing the material that day Ex: competition games where he comments negatively about the losing team/s. STUDENTS BEWARE!!
