EXCELLENT teacher. For those who complained that they didn't do well, they obviously didn't read the book when he states that most of what's on the exams are straight from the book! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON READING THE BOOK! It's college, get used to it. He's candid, hilarious, and applies his lectures to real life situations.

His evening lectures are often like a free trip to a comedy club. He's truly funny. He does expect that people will read the materials assigned, and we expects a certain amount of respect. He deserves it. He's an experienced and knowledgeable teacher.

i was scared at first because there was so many little facts to remember. but his tests made it easy even though he tries to trick you with double negatives and ect.. overall his lectures kept me interested and he is an awesome teacher :) loved the class

Re: the odd previous negative review, I was in the class. He was an excellent and humorous teacher. Because its half online, you do have to read the text, which is well written. It requires some individual responsibility because the meetings are mostly to hear the speeches. Mr. Leigh is very responsive and helpful online.

Comment:

I was scared to take this class, and even more scared when Professor Leigh arrived. He has a very intimidating voice and presence, and I thought class would be very drab. But it ended being one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken, and I did really well. Just pay attention and try to read as much as you can. He gives great notes too.

The hybrid online version of this class, a real time saver if you're self-directed, is only taught by this prof, and he's great at it. Though we only meet half the weeks of a semester, he's totally available. He'll answer late night emails and he's in the Student Success Center daily for conferences. Very good speaker. Entertaining.

Comment:

Even though I didn't get an A - it was my own fault because I didn't study enough for tests - I really enjoyed this professor. He's funny, down to earth, and he invites students to apply the material to real life events, which is great for a required class. Very youthful and vigorous, though I think he's fifty something.

This is a very intelligent and humorous gentleman. He really knows his stuff and is entertaining in presentation. I learned much more than I thought I would, because I am a speech major. Well worth the time and one of the easier ways to satisfy your critical thinking requirement.

Kind of dreaded my critical thinking requirement, but Mr. Leigh made me feel like I could achieve what I wanted to achieve. Spends a lot of time outside of class to help. All you have to do is ask. Even allowed me to call at home if I fell behind. That's not the usual thing.

Excellent teacher. Great sense of humor and a vast repertoire of real life experience to spice up his lectures. Likes regular attendance and respects people who are on time, but he's really enjoyable, and the class was pretty easy. I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm not a great student, but I learned how to learn from Mr. Leigh. I'd been getting a lot of Cs and some Ds, so I was scared of taking a critical thinking class, but Mr. Leigh made it accessible to me. He was helpful and kind, even letting me take a little extra time on quizzes if I got behind.

I can't think of anything more useful than understanding relationships. This teacher doesn't just teach communication but how it impacts your real life and relationships. He helped me understand aspects of my failed relationships that made me feel more hopeful somehow, like I still had a chance to do better next time. Great sense of humor, too.

As someone who wants to become a lawyer, I can't suggest a better class or teacher. He really taught me how to use my mind in a newly self-aware way. The class was challenging, interesting, and the discussions on world issues are very involving. The half-online format may not be for everyone, but this teacher should be experienced.

This professor is a great lecturer, but he also knows how to bring people out of their shells. He encourages participation,and we get to know people in the class. It helps make the speech experience a lot less tense for me. I learned a lot about relationships and my life.

This is my second class with this teacher because he's a lot of fun. Great sense of ironic humor. I didn't do quite as well with my grade this time, but that was my own fault for being late. Mike - he let's you call him that - grades fairly, even generously. I'm sorry that he only teaches these two classes.

I've had him for two classes and got good grades in each with a reasonable effort, but he's not that hard. Also, he's very entertaining and knows a lot. See also his ratings at Pima Community College. He has a home in AZ, so he's also been rated there.
