Got an A in the class and I'm not even a geology major. Dr. Poage is the most interesting professeor I ever had. Extremely intelligent and funny. Just make sure to study for lab tests.

I actually liked this class when I didn't think I'd like it at all! I had no prior interest in learning about the earth's resources! If you want to learn more about how the world makes everything we need to run it, then take him! He understands that not everyone is a Geo major and makes it easy by allowing cheat sheets and using our notes!

Such a boring class! He doesn't have a book but he writes notes on the overhead. He draws a lot of pictures so it doesn't make sense to me. It's a dry subject, but he makes it more in depth then it needs to be. You have to go to class because of surprise quizzes. thank god for the cheat sheets and allowing us to use our notes.but we cant for tests.

Quizzes and tests are hard. He lets you use your notebook on quizzes however, it doesn't help very much. You only have 4 15 point quizzes which isn't fair. The tests are extremely hard. He doesn't offer bonus at all. So you're screwed if you do bad on them. He's funny and down to earth but I wouldn't recommend taking him.

One of the best profs I ever had! Very enthusiastic about the subject funny and very eager to help you oute explains things very clearly and gives great notes if you study your notes you will do fine as long as you wrote everything down that he put one the board loves bob dylan remember the exaples he gives about him they will be on the test :)

Really nice guy. He is very helpful in lab and most of the time you get out a little early. Pre-Lab lectures are pretty interesting. You have 4 quizes and you can use you notes on all of them. Still study because they are still hard even w/ the notes. Midterm and Final are just repeats of the quizes, but w/ different ?'s. Highly recommended.

the tests are hard. Very boring, very long class. Nice guy, likes Bob Dylan a lot. Young guy, seems down to earth. Loves to draw meaningless diagrams on the board. Gives lots of notes. Textbook is not required. Likes to talk alot.

I had Dr.Poage for Dynamic Earth Lab and he was great. He explained things very clearly and did not hesitate to stop and help you with whatever you didn't understand. Some of the material is hard, but you are allowed notes on the exams. If you come to lab and ask for help if you need it, you will be fine.

I dropped this class after a month -- unless you HAVE to take it, avoid it at all costs - it's supposed to be an intro course, but that was some pretty advanced stuff -- unless you're a geo major, keep away -- He was a nice guy though. Loves rocks. Uses a lot of illustrations.
