If you're not at least moderately fluent in Spanish, you won't understand him. He doesn't speak any English in class, so you shouldn't either. Get used to learning new words and be prepared to talk in class. He's a very nice teacher, so if you're struggling, he will encourage you to keep trying instead of giving up.

Prof. Vrooman is amazing! You definitely have to work to get an A in his class, but he'll help you every chance he gets! Definitely cares about his students' learning and how they improve throughout the semester. I loved his lectures!

I took Vrooman's class for SPA 395 . He is an amazing professor. He makes lectures interesting and is NEVER monotone, he keeps the class running smoothly with personal stories relatable to the material he teaches. super nice guy!! lots of group work, but not bad overall. I would definitely take another class with him if i had the chance.

Probably my favorite prof in four years of Spanish classes. Great guy, loves his job, and very interesting material. Gives concrete examples, always willing to work with students, and genuinely wants people to succeed. Definitely recommend.

Although I have always struggled a little in many of my Spanish courses, this has been the most difficult one so far. If you don't understand or have any foundation of Spanish grammar or even English grammar expect to always be confused. I think my Spanish speak proficiency has gone down because I never know what's going on in the class.

SPA 321 in general is a difficult course, Vrooman does well teaching it. Be prepared for a lot of work and study hard for the tests. If something doesn't make sense to you, ask for help in class. He also really likes when you attend office hours for random talking sessions or questions.

He is a great prof, nice and helpful, but his class is killer and a lot of work. Be prepared to spend a ton of time on homework (although he grades pretty easy). He isn't really clear during lectures, so it is difficult to study for the hard tests. Make sure you can speak well before you take this class! There are oral exams!

He is very friendly and willing to help. This class can be hard if you don't take it seriously. If you go into his office hours and talk to him, it helps with the class. He is a very helpful professor and cares about his students. This is more of a teach-yourself-class.

This guy was absolutely awesome. Yea, his class was a little challenging because he only speaks Spanish to you, but it was worth it. If you want to actually LEARN Spanish, take him. He's a nice guy and totally approachable. He explains any question you have and makes sure you understand. Love him!

It's only two weeks into the semester and I LOVE this prof!! He is hilarious, it is very obvious what assignments are and when they are due. I have learned a lot already and he is really making me love this language even more. Explains things really well, I'm rarely confused. Homework definitely helps with in class assignments. RECOMMEND!

I took him during the spring which was TOO much work. I have to retake the class because of it, but I do not blame him. I would take him again, but only in a full term. I liked his teaching style, he's a nice guy, and he is passionate about the subject. He knows his stuff!

Professor Vrooman is a nice guy and sometimes even funny, but he kinda talks funny like the way he pronounes the words so it's kinda hard to understand him. He's not my favorite professor, but he's definiatly better than most of my spanish teachers I had in high school. I actually learned something this year!

He's just a general nice guy. His class is relatively tough, but he always explains things as many times as we need, and is always willing to help. I've always found him to be very approachable. His tests are easy as long as you study for them, and he's a pretty lenient grader on oral presentations. Definitely my favorite spanish prof so far!

Ha..read what the guy below me said. Give me a break. Prof. Vrooman probably wrote that himself because he's nothing great at all.
