Dr. Pinkney is the best acting teacher I have had so far. He cares about you as his student and he cares about your improvement. He is approachable and gives great feedback. He will be tough on you, but only because he sees potential. Amazing professor.

Dr. Pinkney was by far one of my most favorite professors. He's hilarious, passionate, and a fountain of information. He doesn't ask for much from you so when you don't put the work in he can tell. Do your assignments, stay on top of things, and make interesting choices! You should have no trouble in his class.

Had some interesting material and the class structure is not too difficult. It consisted of a group project and a written midterm & final. Very nice and knowledgable guy despite the class being a little vague and unfocused.

He was really did not seem to care about time, I often had to leave his class when it was suppose to end (he went over for every class, yes, EVERYONE) and that seemed to be when he conveniently remembered all of the really important info he couldn't have given in the previous 50 minute block.No real help. Was more vague than anything else.

Typical theatre persona: Passionate and erratic. Feign interest in his interests and you'll do well. Challenge him, and he will wreck you. Will often assign things and forget, and spring things on you last minute. Hot tempered. Histrionic. However, he will often make his standards sound incredibly high, when in reality, they're quite low.

He teaches the class okay and is funny, but don't expect to form a bond with him (which is often important for theatre students). He's very much "give the material, you take the test" and he doesn't care too much for the individual student. He is nice, and funny, but very impersonal. I doubt he ever knew my name, even in a small class.

This class is very easy. Teacher is really interesting. Never will you be bored in his class. Lectures are filled with information, but to get specific answers that you will use in the future, you better ask them straight out. Will get more out of this class if you ask questions.

Dr. pinkney's class is an easy A. He is very lively and his lectures are very interesting. We were suppose to have 6 exams and only took 3 of them; the other three he had us sign in and we got a free 50 pts.

Mixed bag. He is intelligent, but he is way too emotional to be dealing with students. It is highly unprofessional to miss classes and to lose your temper in front of students. Also, don't ask him for grad school recommendations, he'll send them late and you'll be screwed.

Dr. Pinkney is one of the most genuine and kind hearted people you'll ever meet. He's extremely enthusiastic about all areas of theatre, and if you take the time to talk to him, he'll go out of his way to help you out. I know he is the reason I got into grad school.

I agree with the other unfavorable reviews of Pinkney's teaching and personality. However, he sincerely WANTS to do well; if you allow yourself to tell him that you don't understand him (instead of grumbling and complaining in private) he will do what he can to help. He my not always succeed, but he recognizes that it's his responsibility to help you.
