Comment:

Negar is sweet and the material was interesting and relevant without being too much work. Be wary of the required attendance events and presentation days and be SURE you can attend as there is not much flexibility. I think most people ended up with a good grade, but we didn't receive any feedback/grades all semester until the final grade.

Comment:

Negar is a very chill teacher and super sweet. She really enjoys interaction and pressing you to see the bigger picture of things in class which is really nice. Class can get a little long and drawn out but if you try to pay attention a little and participate in discussions you will be fine

I had a great experience in her social movements and social media class. Group discussion based (it was a seminar) and the course grade was based on participation and two big research presentations. She assigned lots of reading but was very willing to meet outside of class. Really knowledgeable, would recommend

I got an A in her class, but I am warning you off. She has NOTHING to say and this makes class a droning bore. She suggests and hints at teaching, but she exhibits no knowledge of anything and just keeps spinning her wheels, very very slowly. Shallow, waste of time.

Not a free A, not a bs class. The readings are abstract and difficult. Students have to go to her office hours to see their grades. TAs do the grading, and it's pretty subjective. Interesting at times, but definitely dull at times.

Her lectures compose of her reading her own notes out loud. She is okay but she has got to stop depending on her incompetent TA's to teach and grade her students; we're taking the professor's class, not the TA's!

She's a good prof but she can be weird at times. She's obsessed with technology (facebook is her homepage and she sends out a million tweets on twitter a day). She talks slowly, almost irritatingly. Look her up on youtube if you want to see what she's really like.

Don't be fooled by the class' title. This is not a blowoff class. She is a nice lady but is her lectures and the readings are ridiculously abstract. If you are looking for a chill class, this isn't one; however, if you are really into the technical aspects of film then this is the class for you!

Definately take a class with her while you're at Duke. She's a very interesting lady with lots of experience in the world. She's very knowledgeble and open to learning from her students as well as vice versa. Great teacher!
