Super funny, has interesting stories to demonstrate tough concepts, super approachable and super patient. Just skim through the textbook. If you pay attention in his lectures and just go back and read the particular slides youre prepared trust me! Dont underestimate the MCQs tho. Articles really force you to think. Web ex are lengthy. very doable

His class really is easy. Study the slides and you're good. He is so, so, so nice! And he really DOES have a great personality. I wish I could take him again because his personality and stories are so adorable to me! Free text on bcourse. 2 tests total, 3 article questions to answer. Def okay to handle during summer.

Don't believe people who say it's easy A, but yeah reading the book wasn't necessary to pass the tests at all. Web exercises are time consuming. Went in expecting easy A, really have to work for whatever grade I'm getting. Loved him as a lecturer and think that the material is enlightening. Non-psych major.

Professor John is fun . Reading is long and boring, but not needed all the time. The article responses are the longest part. Don't wait until the last minute. You will most likely get an A for effort on these. Tests come from lectures and book, but ask your GSI what is relevant in the book. Use the study guides. Good GPA booster for psych majors.

Prof. John was radiant and colorful. Genuinely kind & goofy. Reading is wordy, LONG, & dry. Course content history of personality psych. vs real life application. 2 non cumulative tests but HEAVILY weighted. Web exercises & articles saved me. Articles take forever to do. Got our grades SUPER late. Offered extra credit in the end. I say take it.

This was easily the most boring class I have taken at Cal. Professor John goes over the same material over and over again and feels like a history class. The slides are so horrific, so much info on each one. Would never recommend this to anyone, waste of time class.

Dr. John is a super nice guy and is great to talk to in office hours (definitely visit him there). The class wasn't a good fit for me though. We spent way too much time on the history of personality psych. It's an easy class and Dr. John is great, but I didn't walk out of there feeling like I learned a lot about contemporary research on personality

this class was disappointing - could have been really great and i was initially excited, but i don't think i really learned anything substantial from professor john's lectures. he's a very talented scholar and amazing researcher, but not the best professor in my opinion. he loves teaching but again, didn't learn anything. easy A though.

I love this professor -- and not just because I have an insane crush on him. He's a genuinely good-hearted, kind, and caring professor. His lectures are entertaining, he wants his students to succeed, and he is passionate about personality psychology.

I regret not going to his office hours more. He was a rad dude and wanted to get to know you and help you as much as he could. His lectures are fun and he loves teaching to undergrads. May be confusing at times, but he is always willing to clarify things for you. Highly recommend him.

Sure, the teacher is nice, the lectures are clear, and the material is easy, but this class might be too easy. Because I had lots of other work, I only crammed the day before the midterm/final, did not go to class, and did not read the book, and I got an A+. As much as I like that grade, I don't think it should be that easy to come by.

Took this class over the summer and what a breeze it was. Easiest class I've taken at Cal. Although there were some tedious assignments and group projects, none of it was challenging. Prof John tries to make this class as interesting as possible and wants to give good grades to his students. Highly recommend!!

Really great professor, interesting, funny. I'm a business major and have only taken one psychology class ever before this and still got an A. Print out the lecture notes, go to lecture/section and just sit back and enjoy the ease and peace. Midterm/final are straightforward, just make study guide from topics he gives you to study. A+
