Comment:

Oliver Thompson does not know how to express his knowledge to his students. He knows about law, but he drifts off constantly within his lectures where you don't really know what he's talking about. He grades pretty heavy too, but doesn't provide a specific criteria so you know what your essays will be about. Although, he is a very smart guy.

Comment:

Don't take his class for winter session! His lectures are confusing and he gives vague instructions for how he wants you to do essays. He will talk about one topic which will splinter off into another. His class discussions are awkward and is not very good at engaging the class. He knows law but is not good at teaching it! Very nice guy though.

For the first time taking college courses in 2017, he makes learning a welcoming and very insightful experience. He was more than willing to teach me about laws pertaining to animals

Hes very nice and cares for student, if u need help all you have to do is ask. He has a grading score in which you have to accumulate a certain amount of points but easy A if you do the work. Will definitely take his class again

I was expecting for him to be very strict, but he is very cool and easy to talk to and if u dont ask for help then you will struggle. Get ready to type for winter session we had 3 essays no text book required.

Comment:

Oliver Thompson is one of the worst professors I have ever taken. His criteria for his assignments is not clear and he grades way too hard. You have to watch a 2 hour lecture that he gives to his on campus class and he assigns alot of essays. He walks away from his mic during lectures and you cant see what he writes on the board. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

A rare find. He has so much experience in the field (decades on decades/degrees on degrees). Here's the thing: Apathy gets to him. Participate in class, even if you have no idea what you're talking about. He'll guide you to the right answer. Great feedback on papers; do rough drafts & change what he tells you to! Just participate and he'll love you

Wow this professor is absolutely amazing! He stays up for hours and only gets maybe 2 hours of sleep just to help his student. I would take this class over and over again and it is recommended to take this class with him. He will call you or text at whatever time to help you with an assignment. Words can't even describe how amazing he is!

Overall enjoyed the material but the test questions are some of the worst questions ever. It would say "privacy mean government leave me alone" and the options would be yes or no. This would make them tough. He however gives students his phone number for easy access outside of class. Sometimes had to clarify what was required for assignments

I have taken ADJ 1 & ADJ3 in the fall 2017. I have never been a fulltime student until this semester. But these two classes are pretty easy to get through. Just keep up with the essays (outlines are there), complete the quizzes and short optional answers (THE OPTIONAL STUFF WILL HELP), I strongly recommend going to SI sessions if he has a SI!

Great professor with real life experience of the course for which he is teaching. Has an immense amount of knowledge which he shares with us not just because were his students but it seems as if he genuinely cares for our well being.

I loved taking this class so much, I can say with certainty that everything I learned I have used for other classes in discussions and such. There was a lot of work but it was rewarding, I did not once think "ugh I'm never going to use this". Do your work and you'll get an A plus he also offers extra credit. Take the class you won't regret it!

I recently took his class in Spring for ADJ2/ADJ3. his class was not tough, all you have to do is follow the outlines he preps for class. And pay attention to what he is saying, he does allow you to go against his word on law enforcement as long as you can back yourself up. Both his classes I would take again. Just follow directions and you'll pass

I took this professor almost four years ago but just noticed this site. Just wanted to say he was amazing, full of knowledge. and very helpful. He can be a little intimidating but he cares about his students.

If you're serious about criminal justice then this is the right professor for you! He is a very respected man, and makes the material interesting, he is a very tough grader but easy to get along with, don't skip class do all the extra credit possible and you will pass.

This man should not be teaching. He basically grades on how he was taught. which is out dated. he refuses to give credit to students who disagree with his outdated mode of thinking. He will low ball your grades if youlifestyle is contrary to what he thinks it should be. Ithe does not matter if you have researched your work or not. Beware!!!!!!

took prof. Oliver for both adj.2&3 and he is a tough grader, but he is very smart and you will learn a lot from his examples. Meet with his teacher instructor alysia she will help you understand all assignments. First and for most, do all required homework if you don't you will not pass. There's quizzes every week so do all the readings.
