So the grading criteria for this lab course is confusing, and the lectures are boring. Lots of statistics contents which make you wonder if you're actually taking a physics course.

Comment:

Sinha really cares for his students but he... doesn't really have a good teaching style. His lectures are usually 100% conceptual, which doesn't really suit electrical/magnetic physics. That being said, your ability to problem solve is based on reading the text book and doing assigned problems. Tests are "eh" fair. *Allows cheat sheet on quizzes.

i recommend taking him. His class is an easy A, if u pay attention.He has 4 quizzes(20% each) and drops one. For this class, he put practice exams before quizzes and final, and the questions in the tests were almost identical. He can trick you so pay attention to the detail. His homework assignments are not graded. iclicker is used as bonus.

Comment:

Sinha is a great professor. First of all, he is very clear if you are attentive. Second, his quiz is relatively easy. I got A+ and A in 2a and 2b. Last, he is very funny. I really recommend him.

I took him for 2A and 2B. 2B was a lot harder than 2A. I got a A for 2A but a B for 2B. He's a very nice helpful person, but his lectures are boring and not that great of a teacher. I taught myself everything and if it wasn't for clicker, I wouldn't go to class. Google or Meet students from his past classes, he reuses quiz and test questions.

Comment:

Professor Sinha is a really good teacher. Physics is a pretty difficult subject but he is very knowledgeable about it. The TA is also very helpful. Quizzes are okay, can be a bit tricky but overall the class was good. Final has 12 questions. Need a 75 for an A so it wasn't too bad. I highly recommend taking him :D

I thought he wasn't too bad. I did all my homework problems and paid extra attention to the things he mentioned the lecture before the quiz so I knew what what on the quiz. He's just nice that way. Scored higher than average on all my quizzes and below for final but still got on A-.

I was intimidated as this was my first Physics class. But this guy is incredible; Sinha is approachable, understanding, and clear on what is expected. The rest is up to you. Don't blame him if you're not doing well; I'll probably get a C/C+ but that's because it's my first Physics class. Generous grading structure, I'm taking 2B with him for sure.

Great Instructor he does all he can to help you succeed, even coming into office hours on the weekends. I was really afraid of Physics because I had never taken it before, but now I love it without any fear.

He changed the book for our quarter because in previous quarters, they used a question bank for the book we were about to use, but taught from a book that is of lower level. He has a slight accent but is pretty funny. His lectures are all examples, but will show up on exams. If you do all the homework (and understand it), you will do fine.

Thought the class was pretty good. Reading the book was extremely helpful and doing practice homework problems was necessary. He's a nice guy, but goes too fast in lecture. I heard he's really helpful if you go in for office hours, but I didn't have the time too. And his final was very similar to the quizzes we had in class.

Class is boring, don't go. Don't do the homework. Quizzes aren't based off of it anyway. DO read the book even if you have physics background and make sure to go over those in-text examples to understand stuff. Study and write down on the cheatsheet his previous quiz/exam problems since he recycles them. Take my advice and you'll be fine. Easy A!

He just spits out formulas and writes down examples without explaining the material very well. In class you had to race to copy down everything before he want on to the next page of notes. Sometime the quizzes were easy and very similar to homework problems, other times he gave problems that I had never seen before and had no clue how to do them.

Prof Sinha is very helpful when you ask for it. For such a hard subject he was a very good professor. The book is vital to your understanding in the class and he uses a pretty generous curve. The quizzes are hw based and doable, while the final was pretty hard. Overall, he was very good at explaining the concepts you need to know in his lectures.

His is so caring and nice! Yet his tests/quizzes are really not from the hw or lecture. If you want to learn any physics class in ucsd you just HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. His lectures where clear but the topics would be impossible to understand without reading before hand. You should never skip his lecture though he will tell you what to study for.
