He is a REALLY good lecturer and I never get bored in his class. Makes you feel like you are in that time period in history and is enthusiastic. We have a few essays that he is tough on grading (easy topics), but quizzes are easy if you pay attention in class. Exams are also very similar to the review he hands out, so you should be fine.

Okay so heres the thing... Mavromatis can talk... about ANYTHING. I highly recommend but be a good student and he'll be a good professor. He hates when you talk in class and its good to take notes but he put the lectures online so definitely utilize that.

I liked him because his quizzes were easy and his exams were just like the study guides he handed out. As long as you reviewed and knew the study guide you would do just fine on the exam. The only thing I didn't like about him was how he prepared us for the final exam. Awful. Was zero help and extremely unclear on what was on it.

This professor makes constant spelling & grammatically error even on exams making it difficult to take them. Incredibly harsh grader, and downright rude in communications in online classes.

Orestes is an extremely hard grader. Regardless of his poor ratings, I decided to take him anyways because I didn't think a World Civilizations class could be too hard. He does random questions of the days, which makes attendance mandatory. He does a sign out sheet after every class. He also grades papers and exams extremely tough. DO NOT TAKE!!!

This class was so boring. All you do is lectures and he takes up the whole 2 hours. His power point are very long. Don't bother buying the textbook, you don't use it. He is a tough grader especially on tests and essays. You have to write 2 essays and there hard. There is about 4 big tests. I would never take this class ever again.

Mr. Mavromatis obviously loves history and loves teaching. He is enthusiastic, and tries to make dull topics interesting. However, he is extremely hard grader he grades harder then my writing teacher. read his quizzes and test carefully they can be tricky. However he is nice about make-up quiz/tests

I hate history, I find it very boring. He is very energetic, so that helps keep me awake, but he does studder so that sometime can make it hard to follow along and understand what is going on. But he gives plenty of chances to ask questions to clarify anything that you may not have understood. Does give you chances to make up missed tests/quizzes.

Constantly spelling things wrong on the board, quizzes consist of 10 multiple choice or TF questions that are very obscure and meant to trip students up. He is incapable of answering a question with a straight forward answer and his papers are graded very strictly.

History type classes are typically boring and this teacher really does his best to liven it up. He's very enthusiastic through the lectures and does have a tendency to use every last min of class . World Civ is a very material dense class so paying attention in class and taking notes is pretty essential - your test scores will reflect this.

Reads power points for what they say. His tests consist of many short answer and essay questions which are very strictly graded. He says he grades his papers lenient on mechanics, spelling and grammar but he grades them harder than an english teacher. 3 tests and 2 papers are basically the only things graded so not many chances to change your grade

Put you to sleep style lectures. Papers are graded worse than the WRIT 121 class. I had a 4.0 GPA until I got a 2.5 in this class. CRAZY. The tests weren't hard, just stay awake and take TONS of notes. Quizzes were lame. I bombed my essays not for content but due to things like misplaced commas and format errors. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF

Pretty good teacher, class is also fairly easy. Most of the classes consist of him lecturing using notes from the board or a powerpoint. Don't get homework except for 3 papers that aren't difficult but he grades them like English class essays which is kind of stupid. He is a very nice guy though and the quizzes/tests are a breeze.

His tests and quizzes aren't difficult. If you pay attention to his lectures, you should be fine. Just try to write down as much info as possible. He grades his papers based on how much information you cite, so cite everything that you think he will even question as being a original thought. This class took a lot of my time, but it was fairly easy.

he is a very difficult teacher and i do not recommend him. he stutters and lisps and teaches with his eyes shut which is so distracting. his grading is very inconsistent and when you argue points missed he isn't reasonable. he grades his papers like he's a writing teacher but he is inaccurate about them. his quizzes are hard & he loves true & false

Interesting character. He's hard on grading papers, so be prepared for lower grades on these. His quizzes are hard to do well on, but his test are good. He gives a study guide for each test, so if you don't do well it's your own fault. He knows his stuff and his lectures are good. Not my first choice in teachers.

His quizzes are so specific. It's never generalized. It's always a name or group or place and it's 10 questions. I dislike his lectures. He's so repetitive , but doesn't explain well.

Professor Mavro is very informed about history, but expects students to retain every bit of information possible. The textbook readings are irrelevant to the exams. The required papers are graded strictly as if this were a writing class. Exams are difficult and content is broad. Taking notes is difficult because his speech is impaired.

Hard to understand, and has a temper over very small things. A harsh grader on essays and gives way too much information in his PowerPoints (especially per slide. Would not recommend him to anyone.
