Comment:

Ms. Patty is no doubt a nice person. She clearly knows her stuff, and I really believe that she does want everyone to pass. Unfortunately she doesnt know how to tech very effectively, her lectures are practically useless, and she seemed to think that people with no experience should know/understand these things quickly. Take EMR first.

Comment:

I feel students take this class to get an easy A and a lot of units. Don't! This is the hardest class I've ever taken; it requires a lot of time and commitment. Don't depend on the teacher, make friends, use all available resources to help you study, and read that giant book!

Prof. has a lot of knowledge about the EMS world. She does like to tell stories usually memorable, 5-10 test questions come from her stories. pay attention! Test questions also come from the class book, skills book, lecture, &examples. Clinical's and ride alongs are fun. MAKE A STUDY GROUP. TA's are cool-- do not be afraid to ask them questions.

She knows the material, but certainly not how to teach it to others. Constantly tells long winded stories of her past instead of lecturing and never goes over whats to be expected on the test. She attempts to help you pass if she can, but overall I wouldn't recommend her due to her useless lectures.

This recent semester but she didn't lecture at all, mostly give us stories of how she saved the day. Would go through the slides so fast you couldn't keep up with the lectures. Most of the time assumed the class knew EMT skills and would skip chapters all together. She doesn't teach skills at all! So if you can learn by yourself take her.

Patti, was extremely specific and detailed when it came to teaching/explaining things. She would never sugar coat answers because she wants you to always prepare for anything that could happen. She is understanding when it when it comes to personal situations and gives the best advice for the "what do I do now" moments. I would highly recommend her

Patti Haley is very experienced in Emergency Medicine and gives good practical scenarios for working in Emergency related capacity as an EMT that has already been certified previously. Patti is very helpful and goes the limits with a hard working student. Severe amount of reading! Challenging and fun course. Respected by students--a plus.

Patti is an amazing instructor! But it is an 8 unit class, and that is no understatement! I am a very good student with a great GPA but this class is extremely challenging. Many people in my class were taking it for the second time. Do the (very time consuming reading) and really study hard and you'll be okay. - B is required for the certification

Patti is extremely nice, encouraging, and knowledgable. That being said, this class is HARD. THE HARDEST YOU WILL EVER TAKE. The class will start will 35+ students and end with 8ish. If you want to succeed you must read the textbook, every single chapter assigned. Do not slack during skills day, get it done ASAP. Work hard ask questions. Good luck!

Whoever said the previous comment in June was probably someone who didn't apply themselves to the class enough. I took Patti's class twice because I didn't pass the first time. It wasn't Patti's teaching, it was the fact I didn't apply myself to the material. Patti is amazing and I would recommend her class to anyone.

She is so unclear of the tasks that must be completed. Many ppl from prior semester that failed & are retaking. She is SO unorganized, doesnt clearly explain things that u need to learn prior to tests. Yes shes nice & friendly but would u choose that over a teacher that will actually help you obtain the information you need to know? Disappointed!

Patti is such an amazing insructor. She makes sure that you leave the class prepared to take National Registry and become an EMT! I passed Registry on my first try. She makes sure you are book smart and skill smart, and the TA's are extremely friendly and helpful. If you want to be a good EMT, take her class!
