Comment:
I had Paul's acting and directing classes almost 20 years ago. I took a few minutes today to write him a thank you letter. He's not demonstrative. He's not generous with praise. But he does care. And he does acknowledge your good work and your efforts, if in an understated way. And he has made a huge impact on my life and career. I am grateful!

Comment:
There is a way for an acting professor be constructively critical and kind at the same time, to be supportive of someone's ambitions and and at the same time realistic about the business. It is possible to treat all of your students with the same friendliness. If these qualities sound good to you, you will be disappointed in Paul Moser.

Comment:
Paul is a hateful, anti-nurturing, depressed man. He never saw success so he's intent on belittling his students, however talented or high-scoring, to repair his own battered ego. I'm truly sad for him. But: I know four people, myself included, who have agreed to slander this man if we ever win an award on television. He's earned it for sure.

Comment:
Paul can come off as a tough professor at first, but if you work hard and get your act together he is really supportive and helpful. Some people don't like him because he's very honest, but if you're serious about theater you take what he says into account, because it's useful advice and the theater world is not going to coddle you after college.

paul is an absolutely fabulous professor. People do not like him because they don't like to hear that they are doing things wrong or have been poorly trained. Paul gives it to you straight. I LOVE him.

I used to like theater. Until Oberlin College. Theater makes me nauseous.

Not very clear or helpful, more concerned with himself over anyone else, amazing ability to say one thing and do another. Does not play well with others

Paul has a subtle way of insulting people whether he intends to or not. He has theses little "quizzes" on the readings, which he says are to make sure people read the material, but really you can just skim through it and pass.

I'm not sure lecturing is really his thing. It's really hard to listen to a lecture for almost 2 hours. However, people need to understand that this is a general theater course, not an acting course. There is more to theater than being the star. He wasn't clear about what would be on the midterm. Hopefully this class will get better with practice.

Paul is an excellent teacher. I wish that I had followed all the advice he gave me from the moment I graduated. Don't think he's going to be your dad - he doesn't care if you don't care to listen. Also, it's true he doesn't like freshman, but it gets better. Paul helped me out a lot. He was always there to answer questions even when it was really inconvenient for him.

If you're really interested on what he's talking about, you will love the class...otherwise, his 1:45 talks are the mental equivalent of chloroform. Isn't clear on assignment specifications, but read the assigned stuff and you'll be fine.

Paul is an odd and sometimes picky professor, but he cares about teaching, knows his subject matter, and can really teach it. I learned tons from him. Would happily take 10 more classes with him. His impatience for anyone being late to class is an excellent lesson for actors- I think he just does it to make a point to his students: actors are too common to not be professional about everything.

Moser selected very mundane characters and scenes for us to perform. I was a theater major and expected much more out of him than what he delivered. I learned more from my community college theater professor.

Paul's a really cool prof. If you let being scared of failing, then you'll founder, and it will seem unclear. To the people who say he's "unclear" I would say that if you just go for it and don't spend all day pondering, you'll go way beyond what you thought you could.

When I got to college, I thought I'd never do theatre again. This man really worked on me and the other students. He must have turned over a new leaf, because he was never rude to anyone. A little offbeat and distant, very demanding, but it's worth it.

The only acting professor there worth the dime you pay for tuition. Paul may not be the most socially adept human being, but no other professor has ever gone to such lengths to help a student in need.
