Petrushev is a really nice guy. Sometimes the way he explains things is confusing but he was always willing to work with you and scheduled review sessions before every test. If you did well on the final it replaced your lowest test grade.

His accent isn't bad as in you don't need subtitles if he was on TV. Just think some ex-Eastern block nuclear physicist is now teaching math. He knows the material by heart. Examples are helpful understanding new concepts and quiz/tests are straightforward with a curve that still won't throw you out of A if you get everything else right.

There are a lot of bad reviews on here, but regardless of how he may have been in the past, he is now an amazing professor. So concerned that students learn the material that he's willing to do 5 hour review sessions and skip faculty meetings. The best math professor that I've had, and perhaps the best math professor at this university.

Literally the best math professor i have ever had (im a math major) he is always willing to meet outside of class to help, a group of us would go to his office for hours and he'd help us for as long as we need. analysis is a really hard class and he made it so so much better. take him for any class you can, he really cares and wants you to succeed

At first he seems hard because of his accent, but he was one of my favorite professors. He made a difficult course extremely easy and held review sessions that were just like the tests.

Hard to understand. Class isn't too hard itself, but don't be surprised if YOU end up teaching yourself more than he does. Look elsewhere for a better teacher.

Very difficult to understand. He tends to skip a lot of steps so he is hard to follow. Material is not always adequately covered before the test.

Pretty good professor. Grades tough but looks out for the class as a whole. Overall, material is easy but it has its rough sections. Expects students to be VERY thorough on the exams. Very helpful in preparing for the final. "Questions, Are there any?" Would recommend.

Another OVERPAID worthless professor in the math department at USC. This man has no business teaching. When you try to ask any questions he treats you like an idiot & tells you should know this stuff. His accent is thick & just tells you to know everything for your tests. No calculator allowed in this class, mainly just proofs on all the tests.

Horrible professor. We spend the entire class watching him write proofs on the board even though he gives you the same thing on a handout. His tests are brutal because he just tells you to "know everything". He gives very little partial credit and his final counts 40%. He does not curve anything ever. Avoid if possible.

He is not helpful and with a proof writing class you need a helpful teacher. He forgot a part of a proof and said oh this is trivial and skips it. Then he puts it on the test without ever explaining it to us.

Not a bad class overall. His accent is thick, but understandable. He doesn't always understand what you are asking when you ask a question, but is very helpful once he gets past that. For vector calculus, the class was quite straightforward.

The tests were in an easy format, but because he is too difficult to understand it is hard to do well. If you are innately good at math this is a good course, if not -take a teacher who speaks english.

Mainly, the course material is difficult. However, Petrushev is very willing to help, if at all possible. We had 4 hour review sessions before the (straightforward) tests. His accent is a little thick, but understandable -- very smart guy.

Difficult to understand--he's Bulgarian or something. After everything he writes, he says "Questions--are there any?" and keeps going without looking up. If you really do ask a question he will only say "It's obvious!" Not too h

The only way this class will be easy is if you've had some calc background or you have a really good TA. Nice man though, just not a very good prof.
