such a great guy, plenty of dad jokes, and is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. took him for explore healthcare and it was pretty straightforward. there are no exams just papers which is a bonus and if you're into healthcare it's really interesting

Dr. Funk's class is very informative and interesting. He uses educational videos, guest speakers, and field trips that connect with what we're learning. Grades are mostly from Reflection Papers after a field trip.

I took Dr. Funk for my Explore Chicago class - Healthcare in Chicago. I absolutely loved having him. It was my favorite class Autumn Quarter. He was so funny and very kind. He makes the best dad jokes. I wish he could teach every class of mine. Very personable and was very easy to work with. I cannot recommend him enough!

Great professor. Definitely enjoys what he does and teaches. Going to class is an option but without class you probably won't be able to pass. Tests are difficult, but if you put enough studying in you'll do well. And we made BEER! :)

Funk was excellent. His tests are very fair, but studying is required. He posts his lecture notes on his website, though they aren't a good substitute for class. He's full of info about microbio, which makes this class really fun. Plus, he makes beer in the class that you get to try at the end of the quarter (if you're 21)! TAKE FUNK! He's great.

As good as they come in biology. Dr. Funk knows his material and has an infectious passion for science. People who rate him probably struggled because they did not put forth the necessary effort. This is college level biology folks who get what you put in.

The material learned in this class is relatively basic so it's easy to get an A. Funk does a good job, is clearly organized, and knows what he's doing. Personally, I recommend a laptop because the notes are extensive, but they also cover everything on the tests (reading the book still helps you understand the material though).

I would recommend Dr. Funk in a heartbeat. He is one of the most knowledgeable professors that I had and never seems to have to dig deep for answers. In class when the audio died during a video, he narrated the whole thing like it was nothing. He is very well spoken, and he makes learning easy. Lots of material in the class, so expect to study!

I love Dr. Funk. Yes he's tough and bio is hard work, but it's just to separate the dedicated students from the one's who aren't. Bio is one of those subjects that you have to LIKE in order to succeed. I would recommend him to everyone. Plus he's the pre-med advisor, so he was especially helpful to me.

Funk is a great teacher....all powerpoint presentations....and notes will be on blackboard. seems like he dosent know who u are but he does. u still gotta go to class cause a ton of the concepts need explaining. tests are challenging but online quizzes will boost ur grade. very clear and has the driest sense of humor....class is tough though!

dr. funk has one of those quirky science teacher sense of humor. he teaches off of powerpoint and has the slides handy off of blackboard so u can print them out. he did a good job of explaining class material. his tests are pretty straightforward but u actually need to study for them. he is a great teacher that really knows his stuff.
