Had him for Intermediate Price Theory, so I took his Adv PT class. Great lecturer, hilarious guy. Cool and Southern-ish. Funny examples that help you understand the material quite well. Homework every week. Brush up on your calculus I. Business calc isn't a good class to take for upper level econ classes, grad school, or later math classes.

One of the best professors l have had. Porter gives excellent lectures. My tips for this class are: read the book but don't study it, attend every single class, copy all the graphs and practice drawing them, explain the graphs to other people to make sure you understand them, and meet with Porter at his office to clarify the material.

Difficult but by far the best course&professor I've ever had.Brilliant!Course entails lots of analysis.Take his advice from day1!Be on top of your work everyday.Read ahead of each class(the reading won't take long).Go to office hours esp. b4 each test! Do all prac. quest. To get an A you will need to master the content(which is very interesting)

First off Porter teaches many Policy courses which is refreshing from the rigid mathematical Economics many have come to known. His focus is on training the mind to analyze decision making and the tradeoffs of efficiency and equity. Personally, I think that if you can fight your way through it it will benefit your thought process in the long run.

Tests are based solely on lectures, so pay close attention and take good notes. Porter is very helpful in his office if you have questions. His tests are difficult and he's a stickler with graphs. Make sure you know them all and can draw, label, and explain them all. The class was overall very interesting.

Professor Porter has a very unique teaching style and you Definitely have to pay attention and show up. Be prepared for a lot of graphing and theories! He is definitely a professor that knows what he is talking about and always has good examples to follow up with his theories.

If you dont understand economics do NOT take him! Exams are hard and your grade is based only on 3 exams. Class is very boring, he doesnt engage with the students, and he doesnt use the book. The notes he gives in class are hard to understand on your own. The only good thing is that if you go to his office he will try to help you understand.

Course is pretty hard. Your only grades are the 3 exams you get but he does curve relatively well. Ended up with an A but stuided pretty hard. Good professor, hard material if your not interested in Economics like me. Would recommend.

This class was one of the best I've ever taken at USF. Dr. Porter was engaging and very helpful for those who asked (for the comment below) Also, if you plan to slack off, don't take this class it is not easy but if you work hard and study you will do fine. Read the book it has everything you need to know in it.

One page syllabus, follows the textbook's (more like a novella), format but tests on his own material which is unsubstantiated, nearly irrelevant, and impractical. If you are used to being a prudent and punctual student, this class will insult you with its lack of structure. Without an element of realism and application a study of law is useless.

Knows the material in and out, loves to talk, and is very approachable. Great if you want to go to grad school even if not taking specifically this class as he has tons of advice and experience. I suggest everyone take any of his classes because even if you just want a grade, all of the material he teaches is, IMO, mandatory knowledge.

This guy is hilarious. Almost every class he made me laugh out loud. Further, you learn a ton about the theory behind the role of government. Book is definitely not required. I did not even crack it open and wish i didnt buy it. Your entire grade comes from three test grades only. The tests are very exact and do require you to actually study hard

VERY HARD CLASS. The concept of Law and Economics sounds easy and the book was very small. He's VERY precise for what he wants for answers on his exam. The avg between me and two friends on the 1st two exams (including a football player) was a 55%! Nice guy and very smart, but there's a LARGE disparity for being nice and achieving a good grade.

Law and economics. Great Professor, grades fairly, funny guy. I would recommend his class to anyone regardless of major. I put what I would call below average effort in and recieved a B.
