Professor Gum is one of the best professors I'd in City College. If you want an easy A, I don't recommend her because in her class, you've to make a lot of work. If you really want to learn I recommend her, definitely. She could be strict but what she does is to teach you. She really cares about you. Do your work and you'll have what you deserve!

Professor Gum is by far the worst professor I have taken at City College. She was extremely rude when asked to repeat information since she talks so fast. If you have any personal going on she doesn't cut you slack. Also, her assignments were very unclear. BEWARE. I'll leave it at that since we're limited on characters to type. Take someone else.

She really cares about how involved the students will be with the class even if its online. She had us attend a mandatory first day orientation and also two meetings that semester. She offers in class workshops for extra credit if you take the time to go. The material is clear and easy to understand. You do have to read the book.

worst teacher I have ever had. I took her online class and emailed her a question I had about an assignment 2 days into the start of her class. she told me if I was having trouble then maybe I shouldn't be taking an online class. I have taken 6 online classes prior to hers with no problems. she is very demeaning to her students.

I LEARNED A LOT IN HER CLASS AND FEEL VERY CONFIDENT WITH READING COMPREHENSHION AFTER TAKING THIS COURSE. SHE GIVES TONS OF HOMEWORK AND YOU MUCH DO EVERY ASSINMENT OR YOU WON'T PASS, VERY HARD GRADER, BUT YOU WILL BE PREPARED FOR NEXT ENGLISH LEVEL. IF TAKING ONLINE DO EVERY THING SHE SUGGUEST FOR YOU TO PASS HER CLASS. NOT AN EASY COURSE.

Comment:

Professor Gum is the most unsympathetic instructor in the English department at City College. Her material is fairly easy however she does a great job confusing her students. Also, she quizzes every class, gives a large amount of homework, does not allow make up work nor extra credit. Class is from a Chinese perspective.Very snarky attitude.

I took Professor Gum online and she has been good. She works her students harder than I expected but she is friendly and gives you plenty of extra credit options. She really works hard at getting students involved and interested.

Fairly Decent instructor: She rushes through the work sometimes so it can be confusing. Don’t miss her class she gives test at the beginning of each class and there are no make up test. Participate & do all of the work that she assignes it is really a part of your grade I don’t feel as though I learned a lot but I learned a little something.

I express my opinion against the negative comments about her. Her class was extremely hard. She was strict about grammar and I was struggling with grammar. However, Learning her class led me to success in my college life. I just completed ENG 205. If you would like to succeed in college, I highly recommend her for as your ESOL teacher.

It's DISCRIMINATION!!! Never want to apply her class AGAIN, she doesn't even gave students second chance to pass the class, and rather let you fail the class to reapply her class again. She doesn't even correct the students' work by their level. She only make people's feeling worst, she should be a TEACHER in the school, she should got FIRE!!!
