Comment:

Professional yet relatable, very familiar with topic and able to convey that through various examples vs simply standard lecture and slide presentations. Compassionate, he cares for students, encouraging them come in for help. I look forward to his classes. COMG Department Chair, I'd like that. All students benefit when profs are genuine& sincere.

Comment:

His class was definitely an interesting mix between his laid-back personality in class and difficult exams, with an extremely work-intensive group paper he assigns to be turned in at the end of the semester in addition to a final exam. Can be a charismatic lecturer, and drove home some fun points, just be ready to work during crunch time.

This was a pretty difficult class, but Dr. Aune was one of the best professors I've ever had. I loved going to his class. He's smart, funny, and very enthusiastic about teaching. I wish all professors were like him. The material could've been ridiculously dry, but it wasn't. Difficult midterm/final, project. You get your money's worth.

He is awesome! No one is going to care about his students more than Dr. Aune. His lectures are somewhat boring, but he knows his stuff. Always willing to help and genuinely wants everyone to do well. Any class he teaches will have a 20 page project, but he is willing to help you. Pick a good group and you'll be fine :)

Great professor! Wish he taught more courses in the undergrad department. Learned so much. Dr. Aune is an extremely well-versed and personable professor. Loved this class and love my major because of awesome instructors like Dr. Aune!

This man is brilliant. He is wonderful and charismatic- no bs. He is teaching a whole new field of communication theory. I learned so much! Only downside was the group project- choose your teammates wisely, your grade depends on it. One midterm, one final, one project and that's it.

The good: Professor genuinely cares and is passionate about teaching. Very chill guy - no ego issues. The bad: What a bore! I dreaded going to this class. Lecture is based on a lot of random information. Not sure why it's a required class. The truth - a 15-20 page research paper is required group project.

One of the hardest teachers I've ever had. But you truly learn from him. I'm one of those guys who just wants to get by and finish the class. But with Aune, I couldn't help but learn. A great teacher who's always there to help in the moment of need. And now about to take my 3rd class with him.

I was always late to class and fell asleep all the time because I always stayed up too late-but I still managed to get a B. 2 exams and 1 paper. Powerpoints have everything you need for the tests. Very chill guy. Always willing to help. He's the department head.

Best teacher at Manoa hands down. Just one of the many reasons why the Speech Department at UH is the best on campus. He, unlike 90% of the professors at UH, actually cares if his students LEARN what he has to teach. Would take all of his classes if I could.
