Comment:
Tends to ramble during lectures, which makes them drag on. If you study for the tests and do fine on the weekly quizzes, you'll do well in the class. Very nice person, would take this class again.

Comment:
The gentleman is caring and supportive. However, he seems uninterested in his job. (Point: He lectures just by reading PowerPoints found online.) Also, he is not a formally trained philosopher. He is a theologian heading a poorly structured Philosophy program, which is kept as subgroup to Theology. In general, don't go here for Philosophy.

Tends to ramble during lectures and keeps going over the same material. Attendance is frustrating because it's mandatory but he puts all power points and study guides online. Gives pop quiz each week over reading; just a skim before class and you'll be fine. Know the study guide and it's an easy B at least. He always gives back points after a test.

learn the study guide by heart! That's the key to success in Dr. Bush's class. Also, not the best professor to take if you're wanting to get all the way through the New Testament...we barely got past the four gospels! What we learned was usually pretty good information, but we spent a really, really long time on it.

Does not stay on topic while lecturing. Classes can be kind of boring. Has pop quizzes. To do well on his exam you will need to memorize the 7-8 page study guide and material from the book. He is a nice guy but I would not recommend him.

Very intelligent man but often loses focus. His lectures seem unorganized, but everything comes together on the handy study guides he gives for the exams. As long as you memorize the study guides, his exams will be a breeze. He's also an easy grader and cares for his students success.

He's a pretty easy professor as long as you read the study guide a few times and fight for your points. The quizzes can be challenging. He tries to be understanding.

I had Dr. Bush for a lot of my philosophy classes and he wasn't the best. Great guy outside of class, not a great prof. Literally read from our text book for lectures sometimes. Sadly, he was my major professor.

I had Dr. Bush for OT Survey which is apparently a class he doesn't normally teach, well... I don't know why in the world not. Tough I ended up with a B, that was stupid and totally my fault. The class was certainly not easy, it was challenging, but I greatly enjoyed it and learned things about the Bible I had never even thought about.

Comment:
Though he seems scatterbrained, it's only because the level of knowledge he's trying to convey is so complex. It takes a long time to get used to his teaching style, but what's gained is well worth the time. He is far more intelligent than most give him credit for. Take the time to get to know him and you will not be sorry.

Great teacher!! But can be long winded. He doesn't teach from text book, but does test from them. Papers are the majority of the grade!! Don't take the class if you don't like writing!

Interesting presentation style that requires much effort on the part of the student to fully follow. His curriculum is somewhat repetitive, but if you stick out the Honors curriculum, you will see that his presentation is better for retention and understanding.

He seems like a nice enough guy, but he's one of the worst professors at Union. I dreaded going to his lectures and I specifically didn't wear a watch to class because when I did, I counted the minutes and it went by even slower. Boring, scatterbrained, uninteresting.

A bit ecclectic and disorganized, yes, but he loves his students and makes us all laugh. And he really does have a wide range of knowledge, even though he might seem too scatterbrained.

Lectures: Rambling and redundant. Interesting combination of postmodernism, eclectic theology, and conservatism in politics and theology.

Smart guy but totally scattered. Wanders from Z to S then heads to A. You have to try to keep up. But great sense of humor and class will always be different.

Spinoza-(in a bad Italian accent) "Thea Essencea spininga outa hisa nosea." And he's a fitness machine. Charasmatic in personality, not theology. Great guy.
