He is so sweet, his lectures help you understand what a good life is. His lectures can be very helpful and attempt to listen because there are 3 essay tests. There are also 4 books we are supposed to buy really don't have to read them. We have some discussions but are simple. Our final test essay was optional which was nice.

Randy was a great teacher and friend to have. I think everyone regardless of their major should take his class. It really changed the way I think in a better way. His class is a safe space to discuss what it truly means to have a good life.

There were 3 online essays, which were the tests in this class (writing intensive). And a final that had the same format. I never used the textbooks, and class is very optional attendance-wise. Randy is super funny and charismatic which made the class worth going to. Class only consisted of open discussions every day on controversial topics

Best philosophy teacher in chico state. Brings his dogs sometimes to class which make everything better. Extremely open minded. Show up to class, listen, participate, if you do the readings it helps understand whats going on but you can pass on the reading and still engage into conversation. Every friday you do an essay. Big term paper. Thats it.

I LOVED this class! Randy is such a cool guy and amazing professor. His lectures make the material so easy to grasp and are even motivational at times. I dont suggest skipping class just because you'll miss some info but attendance isn't taken. sometimes he brings his doggies to class which is pretty cool.

Professor Larsen's class revolves almost entirely around class discussion. Which personally, I enjoyed quite a bit. He has an incredible depth of knowledge in the field of Philosophy. He gets to know each student on a first name basis and ensures that each student feels included in the discussions. I would definitely have him as a professor again.

This guy turned me into a vegetarian! But thats good. I am much healthier (and skinnier) these days. Now everybody thinks I am a liberal. Far from it. Randy just reminded me that animals feel pain, too.

Great class. I was nervous about an intersession Phil class at 1st, but glad I did. Not tough at all, great teacher, just make sure you read his recommended articles. Tackles some tough topics, but never cuts U down for ur opinion. He makes issues crystal clear and meaningful...and no, he does not talk too much. Good guy, tough topics. Recommend 100%

Personal values class is extremely fun with this guy and you learn so much about yourself and the world. Best GE class I've ever taken. He is very intelligent, funny, and kind. We debated a lot in this class, and he encourages respectful, relevant discussion. He's super nice, but doesn't just coddle everyone, he makes you actually think.

You'll find yourself wanting to go to class every single day.The assignments are fun, and really help you learn more about yourself. DO THE READING! Quizes are terrible but he grades on a curve.

Smartest, most insightful professor I've had at Chico and I am graduating in the Spring. If you want to really learn and get all you can out of this class go see him during office hours. Philosophy is something best explored over tea. He taught me that too.
