This is your typical liberal professor that spends most of class lecturing about current politics and not the course material. He tends to go off on rants a lot. Grades are 2 exams, and one term paper and attendance points. Go to class if you want a good grade. Study and you'll be fine. Other than that, he is the most annoying prof ever.

Dr. G is one of the kindest people I've ever known. He genuinely cares about your success & gives you excellent feedback. The course has been straight forward, his study guides amazing & he is very responsive. To the person who said he misspells a lot, yet managed to misspell "concise", I found Dr. G to be extremely eloquent, well-mannered & fair.

Professor Guitierrez was absent for more than half of our semester due to his illness. For the rest of the course, he would go off on tangents and never talk about the material. He is very political and opinionated in every discussion. One midterm and final (has study guides with test answers on them), participation, and essay (3-5 pages).

NEEDS to retire. He isn't healthy enough to last a full semester. He has also missed many classes for me too. At the beginning, he said he had health issues, so I am not really surprised he missed so much class. Please do yourself a favor and retire. Staying is a disservice to students. He also interjects his political opinions every chance he gets

im so glad im taking his class. ill take this prof again in a heartbeat. midterm was super easy multiple choice. im hoping the final is easy too. the only challenge is the annotated bib. but he gives you a list of of scholarly journals to use so that you dont have to waste time searching for any.

Great professor. Really funny and cancels class a lot but posts interesting discussions in order to make up for it.

No. Huge paragraphs explaining the expectations of papers, but located in several different places with varying requirements for the same paper. Clearly wanted a particular political persepective for each paper. And four-five chapters to read per quiz, fill in the blank quiz qs that would mark you wrong for 6 instead of six. No recourse.

He did not attend lecture most of the semester due to health issues. He said he would move the class online but he didn't have the courtesy to respond to student emails in a consise manner after moving platforms. His directions were also unclear in regards to how he would grade attendance. His emails had major misspellings and were often incomplete

Honestly, I had heard great things about him but was not impressed after taking his class. He missed a lot of class due to personal reasons but still kept the normal course load. He isn't that easy to catch during office hours and he's a tough grader for the paper/ annotated Bib he assigns. Not a hard class to pass if you do the work.

I really like Gutierrez. His style of teaching is different. Midterm was ridiculously easy and I am expecting the same for the final. He's chill.

Fair professor in all. 2 exams, group project, and essay. Very straightforward class. You do not need a book. Make sure he knows your name for participation. He's really chill and sets you up for success. He does not try to trick.

This professor uses lectures to push his political views at almost every change he gets. The lectures are dry and he goes off on tangents a lot and makes connections that do not make sense. There are not many graded assignments in the class so do well on the midterm/final or you will be in trouble.

Dr. G is a former G. He is the perfect professor to teach a class on gangs due to his experience. Attendance is crucial. Exams were fairly easy. The paper and group project were reasonable assignments. Despite not being a Criminal Justice major, I was able to easily passed his class. If I was a CJ major, I would take him again in a heartbeat.

The professor missed about half of the classes throughout the semester. I don't hold it against him though because it was due to his health, but I still left feeling like I didn't take anything away from the class. Class consisted of: midterm, essay, group project, final. He' s probably a great professor, but I didn't get to experience that.

His two tests are easy, but you'll learn a lot. He did not use powerpoint, but watching documentaries and class discussions made it awesome. I recommend taking him while you can. He knows what he is talking about through experience from working in the correctional system, and is willing to help if you ask him through email and/or his office hours.

This class was very easy! He takes attendance almost every class. There are 2 exams and one annotated bibliography, which were all easy! He gives study guides with answers for both. Although there are 100 questions on the exams, it's easy because it's exactly from the study guide. So go to class, and do/study the study guide and you will pass!

I hated reading the book 'Monster". I didn't learn anything from it. I wish we spent more time reading the Textbook because it had a lot of valuable information. This class was an easy C or B. If you ask a question, he may put you down because he thinks you didn't read the book. He was pretty rude to me via email.

I recommend NOT taking his CRJ-112 online class during the summer. 2 long papers, 2 75 question tests, every other week there's a journal entry. This class was extremely time consuming . If you work, you should NOT take this class. He is also rude when you ask him a question and very sarcastic. This class was pretty bad.

Great teacher. Would take again. Very passionate about the correctional system, I actually learned a lot from this class. We got study guides for tests which was awesome, it definitely helped us all get As and Bs as long as we studied. Annotated bibliography due at the end was kind of hard, but that was pretty much all we needed to do in the course

Was relatively interesting, but overall I learned close to nothing from his lectures. Lectures have nothing to do with the test and are very opinionated. Really nice to the girls during office hours, but rude at times to the guys.
