Lectures are kind of interesting but unfortunately don't prepare you at all for exams. Doesn't really cover the relevant content and if he does it's usually skimmed through.

I don't understand how he's still a professor at UBC. One of the most disorganized and unprofessional professors I've ever had. Truly makes me disappointed in the field of accounting. Don't bother going to class since he rambles, might as well self-study and try to pass. Exams are nothing like the homework so be prepared for a surprising mark.

The lectures are quite unorganized and he often talk about something unrelated to class. He even advertises an education agency, which disguises me a lot! Overall so rubbish professor.

Cons: Definitely one of the least knowledgeable profs i've had at Sauder. Makes it very difficult to study for exams as much of the course content gets skipped in lecture. If you can, wait it out and get another prof. Pros: He does bring real life examples up in lecture which is nice. He also is very helpful if you go to office hours

Exams are tough because they are based on only a few questions that build off of one another. Also, on both the midterm and final, there were questions that 90% of people did not finish or understand.

Avoid this professor if you can! There is no point going to class as they lecture slides and his teachings don't really explain anything. You are better off reading the textbook on your own if you want to pass. His exams have a lot of typos and confusing wording which makes everything that much more difficult.

He has really unclear notes and he always has so many typos. You will never know when there will be an assignment or quiz this weekend because he doesn't follow the course outline, which frustrates me. His teaching is also unorganized. Avoid him if you can.

Great lectures, the slides aren't crazy helpful alone but with the lectures and notes from what he says they're an easy way to get an A in his class. Not only that but he posts each lecture online, with no participation marks you can learn the course at your own pace. Great and funny guy all around.

Nice enough guy. Goes on tangents and + tells stories bc he tries to relate class to the real world, some ppl don't like that but I didn't mind bc it helped me remember concepts. Slides don't really make sense + aren't helpful imo. Exams are hard bc they aren't really like any practice questions we get. Pretty helpful if u talk to him 1 on 1.

Very disorganized on lectures and exams. He enjoys to talk this experience which are not relevant to exams and learning accounting at all! Also, the slides are not useful at all so be prepare to learn by yourself. Although he is the only pro taught 294 this term, avoid him if you can!

The worst prof in Sauder. Extremely unorganized and confusing lectures and notes. Plus, nobody finished the final exam as he put over 60 questions in a 2-hour-period final exam. Avoid him if you can.

One thing I remember is that he would go out of his way to talk down on the class TA, in front of 200+ students. It was super uncomfortable because the TA would make a valid suggestion/correction on Jackes' extremely disorganized problems, and Jackes would shut him down/undermine him? I felt bad for the TA. Also NOT a straightforward/effective prof

At first on the syllabus he said participation mark (7%) was based on answering the in-class problems only but then halfway through the course he changed it to be based on getting the right answers. Highly disorganized. Notes are unclear. BUY the textbook and be ready to learn by yourself. Avoid if you can.

- Classes are boring; not really the prof's fault; Accounting classes and lectures don't work IMO - No practice exam but lot of challenge and textbook Q's (70+ pages). DO THEM. Don't expect to be spoon-fed exams Q's. - Read the textbook. It's a good resource. - Attend lectures (participation) - No different than other classes. BE DILIGENT.

The kind of exam problems you do for MT and final are completely different from the questions he assigned in textbook, practicing doesn't help too much.. difficult exams, basically needs to read the textbook and study on your own

His exams are a little difficult but if you study, you should do okay! He explains concepts well and tries engaging the class in discussion. His in-class examples are also really good but a little unorganized. Overall, a pretty good prof.

Robert does attempt to be entertaining with some jokes. However, I think he is a bit unorganized and we would spend huge amounts of time in class doing problems and people would just talk and procrastinate.

Pretty good lecturer, albeit he hates on marketing all the time! His grading outline for the entire course is more than fair and the assignments are an easy 15%. Make sure you print out the in-class questions and bring to class since he doesn't post the solved versions.
