Comment:
So Prof. Melsh obviously leans to the Left politically and makes no attempt to hide it. Despite being one of the few remaining conservative college students left in academia, I had no problems with his class. He makes his opinions known, but does not punish students who disagree especially if you back your arguments with facts and figures.

Mr. Melsh is a great professor. Note taking is a MUST. He gives homework but it's not every week. The work is not tough either. Some exams were take home. There was only one final and that was in class. Do the work and you'll pass.

Melsh is a good class, pretty easy if you try at all. Take home tests and not too many papers. If you are a go-getter over achiever then you might not like Melsh, he is pretty laid back.

If you lean to the left, you will do great. If you lean to the right, good luck. A political Science professor has no business injecting their own opinions into a political science class. Also, students had no clue how many points the class was out of. He did not use blackboard. One good thing I can say, he is very knowledgeable in the subject.

Mr. Melsh is a very nice man. He gives 5 tests, 2 are take home, 4 Current events, and 1 essay. He also gives many extra credit opportunities. The only problem with this class was that he was a little hard to hear so make sure you sit in front and the lectures didn't always correlate with the tests so make sure to READ the textbook and study.

His tests are quite difficult, if the test is to be taken in class he allows a cheat-cheat. 4 current events & a few other essays are expected. Allows multiple options for extra-credit. Does not post grades up on blackboard, so keep all assignments in case of a mistake. Otherwise, he was a very nice professor.

I am kicking myself for not putting in more effort than I did. He was such a sweet old professor, cared about the subject and was very helpful. You almost have to try to fail his class, or try to avoid getting the A. He was funny, and overall a relaxed interesting class. Like I said, put any decent amount of effort, and Easy A.

Very easy class to pass, I didn't have to put as much effort into it. Although his lectures are long and boring, his work and test are very easy. They were all take home minus the final. I would recommend him just to get your political science class out of the way

Hes very nice i liked mostly everything about him he was just a bit disorganized. He would have very in depth powerpoints but the way navigated and explained made you have to connect the dots more. He has an outline that helps a lot just make sure you ask if he didnt cover a part of it. Every test had either a cheat sheet or was take homeFairlyeasy

A few papers to write, a few tests. You get to have a cheat sheet on tests which is great! Lectures are long and a bit dry but as far as passing a political science class goes, this is one to take.

Professor Melsh is extremely knowledgeable in this subject. His lectures can go on tangents sometimes and he can sometimes get distracted. But his class is fun and is an easy introduction to political science.

I had little interest in Poli Sci prior to meeting Professor Melsh. His love of politics and activism inspired me so much that it is now my minor as I have transferred on to the UC system. His essay assignments are interesting-Be Thorough. His tests are not difficult if you study-part of it is often take home and sometimes you can use notes.

Easiest A... ever! All test are Take-Home-Test, except the final, but you are able to use notes. There are about three current events essays - only about a page long. He also provides extra credit assignments, but I promise you will not need it. Don't buy the book. You will only be wasting your money. Boring class, however - very worth it though!

This class was an easy A. He gave our class 3 take home test! And on the final, he lets you use a cheat sheet. Also, there are 3 mandatory current events that are only one page long! He is really into politics, but it is a really boring class if you're not into politics.

Great teacher, come to class and write everything down. If you dont have an interest in PoliSci you might think this class is boring in the beginning (I did), but over time it gets more and more interesting. I truly learned a lot!

Mr. Melsh is one of the best teachers at MSJC. Midterms (2) & quiz (2) were take home. Final in class but allowed notes. Lectures are powerpoint presentations. He explains all of it but you should also pay attentions to what he says because it ends up in tests. You will need the book. I never liked politics/gov but he made it interesting & easy.

Awesome teacher. Easiest class you can have. He is extremely knowledgable in his field and encourages open discussion about real world topics. Very laid back class and teaching style. Will get an easy A if you just listen to lectures. Tests are open notes.
