He is a good professor. He taught exactly too the point. If you pay attention and actually understand the parts of the films he addresses then you will pass. There was a written midterm, one 6-8 page essay, and a quiz for the final. Make sure to do the readings and you will pass.

Don't like the way his book is organized. Some of the movies are BORING, but pay attention because that is the point of the class. Attendance, one paper, midterm. He did gives us a final and said there might be a pop quiz but there wasn't. WOULD TAKE AGAIN. Interesting class. Never will see film the same, in a good way!

He's amazingly helpful in this class. He knows tons of different people from the industry and gets them to come to class and talk to us! He grades on attendance and one paper that lets us do research on what we want to do in the future. An amazing opportunity.

Prof Vianello is my fave at CSULA! I took Survey of Film w/him and I've learned to watch films in a whole new light. We watched/analyzed films every week. He then has the entire class participate in discussions. I have learned more in his class than most others I've taken in years. I hope he teaches more courses here. Loved this class! :)

This was my 1st semester at CSULA, Prof Vianello was my fave! This class is Survey of Film where you learn to analyze films. We watched and analyzed a movie each week. I have learned SO much in this class. I now watch films through the eyes of a filmmaker which can only help me be that much better when I make my own. I highly recommend Vianello!

A great teacher, and really gives you the basics you will need to continue in the TVF major. Some people said he was difficult but that is only if you don't do the readings and don't pay attention. His lectures are never boring, and his film choices are very interesting. He really challenges his students and motivates them to be on top of their game.

This is an easy class if you pay attention and remember the lectures he give. He is very eccentric so his lectures are never boring. You watch a movie every week and analyze it. You're assigned 1 term paper on a analysis of a film of your choice. His lectures are basically a repeat on the rules that constitutes a (Classical Hollywood Cinema).

The class really makes one think about different areas of film. we watched a movie every week & analyzed it. he doesnt quiz on reading but if you dont read every week the final will kick your ass. theres a final paper analyzing a film of your choice. Hes funny as hell but Make sure to speak up and know what youre saying

Dr. Vianello is a great professor who cares about helping students become better filmmakers so that Hollywood won't continue to generate content for the over sized idiot box, although some people can't help but be stupid. I digress. He's onto something...you'll see! Work Hard!

Vianello is the greatest prof I have ever had... hands down. He kicks ass. Yeah, he can be a bit harsh, but it's his style and it's very funny if you don't take it too seriously. I love him, I love him, I love him. TAKE HIM!

Vianello is not that great. The guy knows his stuff but sometimes he might be a bit of a jerk. He could either get you more interested or make you quit. Don't bother asking for help outside of class, because he won't give it. His finals never make sense. Only take him if you're planning on being there every day and read a lot.

What do you say about a guy like Vianello? He's one of a kind alright... but in a good way. CHC! If you can just suck it up and read between the lines of his lectures than you'll walk away with more than just an education - you'll have an appreciation for the film industry. I highly recommend him as an adviser; all in all he's freaking awesome!

You need to watch Chinatown with him. He gave the Best overview of post-modernism that I've ever heard and it was under an hour. That says a lot given that the fact that it was Vianello. You'd have to take his class to even understand...Thanks,Dr. V!
