Neuman leaves little to no room for errors. I made my own mistakes, and it's not easy material, but he doesn't do much to help. The format of the final was completely different from previous exams and homework, with very little hint or warning of it being any different. Got an A when I retook the class and barely studied.

Neuman was the best professor I've had. I learned what engineering meant. Sure, he grades tough, makes you work hard, and will scare you at times by taking pleasure in giving out zeros and failing the class, but as I got to know him in office hrs, I found him to really be a good person who puts up a tough guy act in order to make us successful.

Tests are very tough, and little to no partial credit is given. Even if you get the right answer and show all your work, he'll take off points for not putting a symbol in one of your equations ( -4 for a missing delta??) Actively tries to bring down the class average is people are doing too well. Grade went from a 95 to a 67 the week before finals.

One of the most aggravating teachers I've had. If he doesn't like you, good luck. If you can get in to see him during his office hours they're super helpful, but there's normally a line out his door and down the hall. He starts to grow on you, but prepare for a struggle the entire semester.

Dr. Neuman is very technical. Lectures will be him going over the homework assigned the class before (almost every day). He reiterates that his lecture is your primary source of knowledge, the book is secondary. Final is 40%, tests are 45%. Expect a large workload; it's a weed-out class. He believes in absolute grading, so little partial credit.

He's really passionate about teaching, but he tends to come off as a jerk. Honestly I think he would be a better professor if he didn't run himself in to the ground by getting no sleep, but I still think he's a good professor overall. Everyone failed his first test so he added another test to help us out, which was pretty nice.

Beware: the test is a game! This professor likes to be cryptic in the way he explains things; however, if you go to class and put in the effort, you will be successful. You decide your grade on the first day of class, whether you like it or not. Also don't text, he likes to swear loudly at you. Not that it happened to me or anything. xD rofl jk bye

Basically this class is just an endurance test to see if you can make it and weed out students for Chem E. Tests are fair and grading is as well (esp if you regrade.) You just need to keep up with all the material. Keep in mind the final will drop you down a letter grade so you need to work diligently all semester. Also read the book!!

Dr. Neuman is a great professor, but his class is one of the most difficult I've ever taken. His tests are fairly straightforward, but can be tricky. He believes in "absolute grading" so partial credit can be a hit or a miss. This class will truly test if you have the stamina for ChemE. Homework is easily 2-4 hours a night. Final is 40% and hard.

Take what he says in lecture as law. The book is supplementary but is very helpful to clear up concepts. Expect pop quizzes on Fridays. His tests are tricky but read carefully and they are doable.

Dr. Neuman clearly loves Thermo II, and that makes it easier to sit through lecture because he isn't not just droning on. BUT his tests are really hard just because you have to know everything. You never know what he could ask you. And he is super picky grader.. That all being said if you work hard you will make it.

Neuman's lectures are basically just him going over homework but he is really nice and helpful in office hours. The difficultly in this class lies in the amount of homework that is assigned and in the tests. Homework is assigned everyday and usually takes 3-4 hours to complete. Tests are difficult. Expect to work VERY hard to pass this class.

Definitely a class that you have to work to get an A in. Lectures are usually interesting. Listen to what he talks about in lecture, but also read the textbook and any files he posts online. Exams are hit or miss in terms of easiness, so it's definitely better to go in extremely prepared. Overall, not too hard content wise but be ready to work.

I got 2 B's and an F on the three tests, a B on the final and a B in the class. This class is very doable, but there is a TON of work involved to be successful. He doesn't make his exams SUPER challenging, but he expects that you do everything correctly as he is an extremely tough grader. Make sure to actually understand "concepts" as he puts it.

I'm an asian student leaving AU. I took it in Summer2014. I got one C and two B on Exam 1,2, and 3, but I finally received A . He checks the units and format. Questions are not that hard. Be careful of units. Add explanation about your calculations. Review your mistakes at the exams and the homework questions. Then you will be fine on the final.

"Lectures" are homework reviews straight from the textbook solutions manual. Tests are ridiculous- class averages were very low. The final was awful. Avoid Neuman if you can, but if you have to take him, go to his office hours as much as possible. He might actually teach you something there. No guarantees, though.

Go to class, take & study notes, do the homework, work extra book problems and GET TO KNOW YOUR TA'S. My test average going into the final was a 42 but I did all the homework and scored decent on the quizzes and project. He did change the percents of what everything was worth 9 hours before the final and didn't put in EC until after the final. C!

He's nice. He does'nt try to be funny but he is funny in class. Do not try to ask questions in class bc he cant hear well. Just take very good notes and study those notes.Questions are from Notes, notes, notes. He is very intimidating at the beginning but at the end rewards you for hard work. stick with it. It is possible to make an A.

Very difficult class, you MUST study on your own. You MUST read ahead if you plan on even passing this course. You will be given the hardest problems from the book on your tests. He doesn't believe in partial credit, so if you have one mistake in your solution, expect a 0 on the problem. His test usually have 5-7 problems worth 20-25 points each.GL
