Favorite class. If you like physics, you're gonna love this class - it's not that challenging because it is an intro course, but it touches on lots of different topics in modern physics. The observations (3 of them) got a bit cold, but they were such cool experiences. You should really go to class, the lectures are amazing. Ronen is awesome.

If you are interested in Astronomy, Ronen is the man. As a humanity student, I haven't done physics for two years. I enjoy the class so so much. It is not easy, but really worthwhile. Amazing, amazing experience. Oh also, he could easily get too excited and talk too fast in the class. You just need to slow him down.

Dr. Plesser is definitely a very engaging professor that cares about his students and his material, a great professor. Observations are awesome too. However, I would not recommend taking the class unless you need to or really really care about the material. Homework, midterm, and finals were all too difficult for me to be worth it.

Ronen is a great professor, super knowledgeable and incredibly smart. He is a humble guy but very passionate about physics--sometimes seems aloof but inwardly he is quite friendly. For our class, midterms were extremely hard but the final was fairly simple (Got 99/100). If final>weighted average, final becomes your grade. Observations are awesome!

Very engaged with subject and students. Very helpful. Explain things thoroughly and clearly. Goes the extra mile to provide extra information for students who want to know more than can be covered in a lecture.

Prof Plesser does an incredible job to present the exciting field of astronomy from A to Z. The video demos he has identified and used during the teaching of the course are priceless. He is extremely immersed in the field and his enthusiasm is quite obvious. His love for the field is passed onto the student. A very highly recommended course+prof!

Ronen is the best professor I have ever had at Duke. He's enthusiastic about everything he teaches, amazing at explaining seemingly difficult concepts and gives homework assignments that are actually relevant to the world we live in. Would highly recommend this class to anyone. Do not expect an easy A though, effort and work is required.

Enthusiastic teacher and fantastic guy. The only problems with his class are that 1) he is so excited about teaching the material that he rarely ends the class on time, and 2) on homework, the actual questions can be tricky to decipher because of all the background he gives. I could have way, way worse problems. GREAT choice for an NS req.

nice guy, really smart. some of the stuff in this class can go right over your head though. a basic background in physics will help you a lot. oh, and there is a lot of math. he makes an attempt to explain things to you if you ask.

Very insightful; teaches a challenging but rewarding course. Always willing to clarify, cuts to the chase on questions. Not the most accessible outside of class, but makes up for it in efficient communication. Highly recommended.
