Comment:
Worst professor I had at Ryerson. Not understanding of the difficulties of being a student, this makes him extremely unapproachable. Will send passive-aggressive emails to make you feel unworthy of being in his class & stupid for asking questions. Would never recommend to anyone especially students who depend on communication with profs to succeed.

He uploads his slides, but they have very little information on them - mostly just pictures. If you have to take this course, make a friend whose notes you can borrow if you miss a class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND making flashcards every week with the questions he puts in the slides. I did not until the last minute, don't be like me.

Good guy, atrocious marker, doesn't teach much. There are cases where you need to go to so many places off campus for a really small amount of marks, really boring material.

Lectures are very story-based, so you really have to pay attention to get the facts. Use the questions at the beginning of his slides to study for exams. Class is often boring but Fair is a nice guy who is always up for a history chat.

Seems like he's probably a very nice guy but HIS 105 - History of Popular Culture is not at all what I expected. I thought it would be a very fun, easy, light and ENJOYABLE ELECTIVE but it is HARD and boring and doesn't explore "popular culture" in the way we know it. I sadly, do not recommend unless you LOVE history.

This class had interesting content, but the profs lectures where hard to follow. His slides consisted of mainly pictures, which left most of the content to him just talking, which was kind of tangenty. The final essay also had nothing to do with the content learned and was worth 30%.. Test was essay questions on random topics. Do not recommend.

He's a nice person but the course content wasnt really that interesting & kinda useless. I would not recommend this class to anyone. I wish he gave a review sheet for his exams, if he did then the class would have been great. Also, you need to come to class b/c the ppts are bare & try to do the readings if you can, he hates it when no one does them

Make sure you attend lectures as the final is heavily based on lecture material. You will also be assigned additional readings for your breakout discussion sessions. The material is very engaging in this course and you can tell that Professor Fair is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject. This was my favourite elective

Not that bad, but not the best. He only uses pictures on his slides, but his lectures are easy to follow. So notes are mandatory. The exams don't have study guides but the online readings do help when studying for them. He is funny, but i wouldn't recommend this class or him as a prof.

please avoid him at all costs. his power points are literally all pictures with absolutely no content to study off of. No textbook. So if you don't go to class, you're screwed, and if you do, you're still screwed because this man cannot lecture for his life. He's a hard marker and is so sassy in emails. The class itself is pretty boring so ya.

He doesn't use a textbook. He gives two online readings a week. His powerpoints consist of pictures and terms with no definitions or actual content. His criteria for assignments and tests are very vague and he gives a lot of attitude when asked about format and assignment details. He gets mad when you don't participate and he's boring in lecture.

Dr. Fair is an expert in the history of Toronto, and the extent of his knowledge is clear in lecture. He's smart and seems genuinely happy to talk about class content outside of lecture. This course is taught like an upper-level history class. It's not a bird course.

By far the worst prof ive ever had. Im not usualy one to rate or complain but he has pushed me to it. He will show no remorse and grades redicuolusly tough. If you cite somthing even slightly wrong he will flag you for plagiarism. AVOID HIM!

Work My has off and ended with a B- good prof, Horrible marker. his class is set up in a way that its determined on what he wants to give you. lectures are long and only has pictures no notes and he expect you to remember work for word. If you want to just learn and don't care about your mark good.

He is a enthusiastic prof and know his course but the problem is he is enthusiastic only in his way which is a dull and insider kind of joke for historical people. The course could been fun and informative but he loves using big words and insider jokes which are hard for students to understand. DO NOT take this unless you really into TO history

Ross often uses only pictures in his slides - that means that if you miss a class, you will have an extremely difficult time catching up. He also talks quite fast and sometimes rushes through slides only to come back to the same slides, resulting in very messy notes. He is quite a hard marker and looks for very specific terms while marking.

If you respect his lectures, he will respect you. He learns to remember the names of the people who make an effort and that will really help you out. Lecture topics can be quite bland but he includes videos to help make them less boring. You can either show up to his lectures for notes, or complete all the readings provided. Either or works.
