Lectures are boring. But if you attend class, read the book, and familiarize where things are in the book, you should do well on the exams. My only complaint is that the math problems are formatted differently on the tests than in the book so it made it harder for me to know how to approach and solve the problems. Also, Shad says "uh" a lot.

His class is quite boring, but the exams are open note/open book. Make sure to watch his videos and take down his handwritten notes. The tests will have questions on these and they aren't in his powerpoint or the book. It is helpful to opt in to write the paper and do the presentation because it provides a nice cushion for your grade.

This guy is older and it's getting to the point where it's really just boring. The material is boring and the lectures are boring. It's better than some instructor's I have had though. Overall pretty average.

4 tests. You can use notes and book for test. He wrote his own book, which can't be bought from UMKC. Uses power points for lecture. Print the notes, highlight in the book. He takes attendance, but doesn't count towards grade. He's older and mumbles a lot. Takes notes in addition to the notes from the power point. Says "um" a lot.

4 tests entire semester. open note and open book. The 3rd and 4th are a little confusing if you don't come to class. The class is very boring, you just have to put up with his lectures.

Attendance is mandatory. Taking notes is also mandatory as the book and powerpoints are extremely brief. It's basically a semester of listening to him read the slides and elaborating a bit. 4 open book/open note exams that are multi. choice. However they're still tough and most of the class doesn't finish in time. I would take another professor.

Super nice guy. He uses a lot of examples and tells a lot of jokes. He seems to get mad at students that don't go to class, but is very nice to students that try and take it seriously.

DSOM 326 with Shad is one of the easiest classes you can take. Yes, he does use his own textbook, but it's more like notes. The book is not the best, but it's bare bones and exactly what he wants you to know. Shad will be easier than your other options, but the only takeaway from the class is that product design is important.

One of the most pointless classes in the Bloch school thanks to his lack of caring in his students, tests designed to trick people, and self written book that he could not get published - so he self published. The book is a collection of thoughts and not written in sentence form. Many people get good grades, but very little is truly learned.

I hated this class. Supply Chain management could be an interesting topic if it wasn't for Shad and his textbook. It is an advantage to attend all the classes but, you'll be fine if you missed a few. Had a hard time concentrating in this class because he makes everything too complicated. Not a super tough A, not an enjoyable class. But reqd. for MBA

IMO, Shad is the best and easiest professor at the Bloch School. He explains things very well. He will go over the types of problems a day prior to tests. Gives two grading algorithm. One w/ presentation & one w/o presentation. You can still do well if you choose the latter. Most of his tests/quizzes are problems, but if there is MC, read the book.

His tests are carefully crafted to be very difficult, so if don't memorize his self-written text book verbatim (which is impossible since it's so random) you will hate this class. One of those profs who lives to demonstrate his superiority by alienating the very students he seeks to instruct.

I liked Shad bc he actually writes on the board....however he writes exactly what is already in the book. The book, which is written by him, is all incomplete sentences...so you have to show up to fill in the specifics he gives you in class. Tests are harder than they need to be, and he does not explain the subject material that well...he is alrigh

Shad is one of the BEST teachers at the Bloch School. He CARES about his students, doors always open, gives extra credit. Exams are open notes and open book, but the exams could be challenging even though. He is a story teller, and you could see how his stories link to REAL WORLD. Extremely helpful teachers, I would recommend to anyone! He is great
