DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE ONLY TAKING IT FOR A GEN ED! It is a very difficult class. The professor is really great and the planetarium is fun. The tests are VERY difficult and there is a lot of work to do. I recommend it for someone who is really interested in the subject and willing to work hard. One of the more difficult gen ed classes.

The class is AMAZING! I had a lot of fun going to the planetarium once a week; the professor is funny and easy to get along with, but his exams are difficult and there are weekly homework assignments (you don't have to turn everything in) Overall, there's a LOT of extra credit, so it's hard to get anything below a C. Overall, it's a new experience!

I found this class to be extremely exciting and very enlightening. I really didn't know much about astronomy but now that I'm done I am picking out constellations like no other. Mr. Schafer is a really nice and helpful guy and he REALLY knows his stuff. Tests are hard but there is SO much extra credit that you can pass the course with an A easily

Very difficult class. Tests are near impossible. He gives tons of extra credit that is needed to pass the course. Lectures are boring. Grade is based on tests, essays, and planetarium assignments.

Very nice professor. He makes the grade more than tests (which are hard). Everything is spelled out in the syllabus, so you know what has to be done. Don't leave papers to the end. Don't drop if you do poorly on all the tests, you can still earn a good grade. The class was fun and interesting.

He offers LOTS of extra credit opportunities, so even if you do poorly on the tests, if you're willing to do a little extra work you can still do well in the class. Make sure to do assignments in the beginning so you aren't forced into ones you may or may not enjoy by the end. Go to review sessions!

This dude is a total dork. He wears star trek ties to class everyday. But I never studied for class, got 40's on all the tests and still got a B in the class
