Its an extremely challenging class because its real world econometrics. You simultaneously learn new techniques and then apply them in the field. I enjoyed it and learned a lot.

If you're someone who knows economics in general pretty well, you should definitely take this class. You use a program called STATA for every homework and test you do. You do have to attend the lectures if you want to do ANY homework assignments. But be prepared, each test is a take home that takes around 6-18 hours of your time at home. Very Hard.

Steven is hilarious and a great teacher. The tests are take home, but are incredibly difficult and take up to 24 hours of complete concentration to finish. Take good notes, don't miss a class, and form a study group for the homework. The subject itself is hard, so it's not his fault that it is difficult. Would take him again. Go to football Fridays

Awesome! Makes you work for it! Show up to class! Hilarious! Hard class and he will weed out the people who do not belong in economics. Tests are difficult and step by step. You will most likely either get an A or an F as he believes you either get it or don't.

If you go to class, do the homework, and study you will get an A in the class. You have to be good at math and econ too. He is my absolute favorite professor of all time and extremely intelligent. If you have to take this class definitely take it with him.

The best professor I have ever had. If you can do economics, he'll be your favorite too. If you can't, you'll find out in his class. If you go to class and study hard, you'll get an A. He hosts football games on Fridays which are a great way to get to know the Econ professors. The SSU Econ department is a hidden gem due in large part to Cuellar.

If you don't like talking controversial topics, such as minimum wage, in class and being exposed to new ideas not usually talked about on campus you will not like this class. He is in your face and practical, and quite frankly, does not care about your grades. He is a great professor and is highly recommended in my opinion. Honest professor.

Definitely an economics researcher, not a professor. Large assignments due every week that aren't even graded by him, but by his TA. No continuity in grading criteria, but there are no other tests or grades; the marks you get for the weekly assignments are what your final grade will end up being. Stata is useless in my MBA program.

Cuellar rocks my world. He's really amusing and keeps you interested in the subject matter (which is brutal for some). You always know exactly what will be on the tests and if you're prepared they're pretty easy. Highly recommended!

I have had Cuellar for 305, 317, and now 411. If you don't already know about him I am surprised, he is very outspoken, makes the class interesting and puts everything in context. The tests are hard but very passable as long as you stay on top of everything. He loves talking about himself, after all he is his favorite economist.

Cuellar is the greatest. Very funny, constantly talking smack about everyone else yet very enamored of himself, although in a good humored way. His lectures are interesting and he is helpful during his office hours. Not a hard class if you put in the time.

If you plan to major in Economics take 305 first.. it weeds out the people in the major for sure. Cuellar is a good professor but the course subject is very tough and math oriented.

This guy is a genius. He has a very unique teaching style designed to relay information clearly as well as maintaining the focus of his class. He cracks jokes once in a while that I found hilarious. Everyone says the tests are brutal, but if you go to class and take notes then you will be just fine. Very good experience

I like Cuellar, some people do not. Very clear lecturer, for classes I know of he does not use the book...solely used as reference. Really funny, and almost always right. You need to be in class...he's very good about helping during office hours too. If you like Econ take him!

Also 305, 311 and 421. One of the smatest people I have ever met. There are no surprises from him. If you want to learn Economics and be able to apply it I highly recommend his classes. If you want a free ride take someone else. You will get your moneys worth but expect to put in the time.

Cuellar tries to come across as a hard a$$, but he is actually a really good instructor, who gets you to do more than you would have thought possible....The material is probably the most difficult I've ever had, but he gives you everything you need to undersatnd it.
