The only professor teaching a humanities class at RC that is actually worth taking. Extremely beneficial and thought-provoking. He also offers tid-bits of life lessons at the beginning of lectures that deliver an important message. SO intelligent, you have so much to learn from him.

I would not recommend this class to anyone. He doesn't really seem to care about his students in this level of a course. He will give you a "bad student" speech if you do not go above and beyond his expectations. He also seems to think that this is a students only class so there is a lot of extra work he wants. It's his way or no way at all.

Would not recommend for introduction....many students that were interested in philosophy dropped out....grading for papers is rather arbitrary as the clarity Of what he is looking for is lacking. Not sure what he wants in papers until after they have been graded....his teaching style seems much more conducive to an upper-level course.

Probably my favorite instructor at RC, Dr. Hicks gives you EVERYTHING you need to succeed in his class. (His courses also offer an opportunity to win cash for essays- I won $300 just for doing homework.)

Okay, so I really have no idea what people are complaining about. He's smart & nice, he gives you the test questions ahead of time, you can memorize your answers, simple. There's a short midterm paper, & a final paper, neither of which are too demanding. It's an awesome class, he introduces a unique way to look at the business world. I loved it! :)

Hicks isn't bad but he isn't good either. Essay Exams and Papers aren't that difficult. Paper assignments however aren't clear for what he's looking for. Class is taught more like a philosophy of business class than business ethics.

This is probably the human being from whom I've learned the most. I don't know if he ever gave me an A in a class but I managed to get a few A's on papers.

He said as long as he knows your name you're good with attendance...that's a bunch of bull. I got a 87% in the class and gave me a B- because I missed a couple days of class, and he did know my name! His notes are terrible! They're all 100% charts...good luck when the test comes cuz the answers have to be in paragraph form.

He is challenging and the people who wrote negative comments for him shouldn't be allowed in college if they can't take a challenge. He gets you thinking in perspectives you might never have before. He was born to teach biomedical ethics. He also doesn't put his opinion out there so there is no right/wrong answer w/ him. Highly recommended...

Dr. Hicks is one of the smartest men I've ever met. As such, he expects intelligence and hard work. The people who left negative reviews are probably just too lazy to earn his respect.

One piece of advice: Its his way, or the highway! If you are looking for a fun class to fill out a well rouded education, stay away from any class taught by Dr. Hicks! He teaches only for Phil. Majors and he lets you know that you are wasting his time!

Presents all sides of the issues, but if you argue against his point of view, no matter how thorough your argument is, YOU ARE WRONG! He married a past student...How ethical is that? This oppinion is completely biased because I thought he was a jerk.
