Do not take him! He doesn't know what he is talking about during class. Although he gave us a long period to write a paper, you will still find it's hard to get a good grade for you paper. Attendance is required, but we took many classes off for the conference, i don't think i got anything helpful enough than I excepted.

Don't take Chow. I chose him because his RMP rating was good but it was misleading. He may be the strictest grader I've ever had; he grades way too harsh for a writing class. I do not recommend him at all. He is a stand up guy though, anything mentioned on here about that is accurate. Just way too tough a grader.

My class was entirely about food, no lie. We watched movies and wrote reall easy papers... I'd highly suggest him for english 101!! Just don't use your cell in class (he gets pissed)

Alot of students complained that this class is useless. I learned alot however, its not the most exciting information but it is research writing soo I dont know what people expect. Overall Dr. Chow is a pretty cool professor and there is no attendance what more can you ask for?

pretty good prof. you must come to class. if you miss, you dont get a good attendance grade AND you miss inclass assignments which add up to be alot. theres little inclass writing assignments almost everyday. you are also graded on 2 big papers. not a bad class. cancels class a lot too. we had off for a month to finish the last paper.

Kind of a bone head and doesn't explain how to improve your writing after assignments are due... daily writing assignments are hard to do at first but if you just do exactly what he tells you you'll be fine. Do not have class for weeks in between major essays due... easy A if you do the work.

Really nice guy! He takes attendance though, gives credit for coming. Not a very difficult class, a few papers but they're decent. In class assignment frequent too, but as long as you go you'll end up with a good grade!

I recomend this class to any IUP freshman. There is not a lot of reading or homework required, just about six 3-4 page essays a semester and he gives lists of topics to choose from and does rough draft workshops! Take this class!!

Dr. Chow is really easy. You have only a couple pages to read ONCE a week, and then just do in class work. Fair on essays- dosn't expect you to write a novel. We have good discussions in class.
