Overall Rines is a good teacher. I agree that her teaching style is dry, so if you need an exciting teacher this isn't it. But you will learn a lot in her class if you listen to her dry lectures. She is an easy grader, so most everybody gets an A or a B. Although she is dry, she is a nice person.

She is very dry, and somehow i ended up with an A in the class. Not sure how, since i got a C on one midterm and the movie report. I wish she had a better selection of movies, she seemed to try and choose non-mainstream films, but they ended up being kinda lame. Overall not a bad class and not a hard teacher

Rines is a boring teacher, and the pass her class you NEED to revise your script catering to her. That's right, she hates it if you have a any individuality what so ever. So just go with the flow and you'll pass.

she grades Super hard! i suggest u take this class with another teacher, she only gives one project for homework but u really need to take interest in film to do well in this class. her lectures are boring, and the class is just not appealing.

BORING! Her class is so dry, and her personality is just as dry. I cant learn anything in that class, because i tune out to avoid her extrmely boring, un-inspiring, hellish class. She doesnt seem to enjoy her job, and i sometimes feel like stabbing my self with my pen in her class. THIS CLASS SUCKS;DONT TAKE IT WITH RINES!!!

I think Susan is cool, if u're not film student then why u take it for ur GE. The class is not come to watch movie in the screen room, if u think that easy then u're wrong. u learn from her class but u don't reconized .

Susan is whip smart, makes excellent comments, and is very personable outside of class. I must admit that her lectures are dry and come directly from the handouts, but for beginner writers, she lays a good foundation. She is not cold, though I understand how people get that impression. Her class is well-paced and not overly demanding of the writer.

Ever try to squeeze blood from a turnip? Probably easier than getting a smile from this woman. Very uninspiring lecture style----I'm not sure she really enjoys her work----if Film is your major, you may want to consider another instructor.

Although she taught the basics of screenwriting well, I didn't find her teaching style to be very motivating (as compared to the three other instructors I've had from the same department). Also, I found the films that we watched (with one exception) and screenplay examples that she gave us were somewhat trite and uninteresting.

As a teacher, she is extremely boring and very unfriendly to the students. She's cold and you just don't want to be there because of it. She doesn't seem to be into helping the students. She has a very negative way of handling any students who want to add- she doesn't inspire you to stick it out.
