She cares too much. The littlest thing that doesn't seem right to her, she will most definitely let you know and it can feel like she's getting a bit too much in your face. She doesn't mean bad, though. She always comes in overtime and responds quickly to always help. If you are a Japanese person or an asian boy, you are in luck. She will love you.

Susan is very knowledgeable weaving after teaching for nearly 40 years, but the best thing about her is that she cares deeply. Susan is patient and will respond to emails fast and is always willing to show up outside of class to help with any questions or loom set ups.

Susan is one of the rare people who cares about the craft and holds her students to a high standard because she cares so much. If you want a babysitter, you will find them all over campus and up the hill in any Brown class, but if you want to truly learn from an expert who will force to to do your best, then Prof. Sklarek is the person for you.

Susan is the heart of textiles. She is small but mighty in her teachings. She repeats things all the time and her lectures last forever because of it, but she is always there late hours helping and answers calls and comes to studio anytime you need help. While weaving generally is complex and time consuming, she really knows her stuff and helps.

A very dedicated teacher. Sometimes a little nagging, but kind of like an aunt in that way. Ultimately, she really cares about student development and helped me to work up to my potential in weaving. The first semester with her is a but rough, but the second is much better. I learned a lot from her, especially about technique.

I haven't even had her as a teacher yet but she still manages to get on my nerves on a daily basis and has tried to get me in trouble (when I was totally innocent) on numerous occations. And her nagging voice hurts my body.I loathe this woman.

Susan was the most supportive faculty member of the Textiles department- with the truest appreciation for the fine art of textiles making. She's tough, but really cares for her students- hence the late night pop-ins. A+

This woman is a creature of the night. Think you are alone at 2 am weaving? Think again! With her Bride-of-Frankenstein chic, versatile black fanny pack, and consistently dark Express wear, Textiles can certainly look forward to increased male enrolme
