I took her in Spring 2012 (I have no idea if she is still teaching). She is not as bad at all as the ratings below say. That she is strict and has her own style (and old) does not mean that she is a terrible professor. Just follow the instruction and don't do anything dumb.

Never try to take her class unless you want to die with lots of papers and tests. 6 essay exams and 5 gramaer tests, and all of them are so tough and she doesn't want to assign A to any students. I waste whole semester and due to her horrible amount of demands, I couldn't handle the semester. It's not late, if you see this comment, please change

She's preconceived nature especially with your race. If she do not like you as a person or country where you come from she is going to low your grade. I have no idea how she's still working at El Camino. She doesn't know her subject and I so regret that I lost my time and money for this class.

Very poor quality teacher. At the beginning of school, she asked us to buy 3 book that we barely used. She takes like "hundred years" to gives us the corrections of our essay. You'll never get an A, but the worst part is that you won't learn anything new in her classes. Don't waist your time taking this class.

Worst language teacher Ive ever had! Most students droped others got bad grades and failed. "A" is nearly impossible. She ony grades a 1/3 of the examinations herselfe. Awesome prof! I really appreciate her academic preciseness. She liked to give us lots of pressure, but after that I found out I gained a lot.She is a strict and traditional teacher. I recommend her to whoever has good attitude towards study and wants to have a strong grammar base! She also taught Yoga in summer class!~~

well ,she was my first teacher in E.C.C. she is in her 60th. so don't except to have a fast teacher. but she has PHD and lots of experience and the way she speaks is clear ( I find it out after having 2 sub.teacher) unfortunatly she didin't come for 4 sesions (being sick). don't buy D.hacker book 30$ she will never use it!
