I thought that this would be a tough class and the 3.7 rating at the time worried me. She was the best UMUC had to offer at the time and I think that she does a great job. I personally had no issues.

The material was very tough, and Dr Sands was very specific in how she wanted things done. Very easy to get in touch with via email and very willing to help if she was that you are interested. Good Prof overall, but be ready to work on this course

I've never had any issues with math until this class. Homework assignments are full of questions based on if you've been studying the material for years since her videos and notes are unrelated to what she asks. And when you finally understand it through hours of google, she'll still take a huge amount of points off because it isn't done her way.

She is what's wrong with the teaching in the country. I had friends who were in calc 2 helping me, mind you they have gotten straight A's, but I got a C on the test. I looked back and it was cause she apparently grades based on what she wants to see, if the work is right but not done the way she wants it exactly, she marks off points. Stay away.

This professor is among the worst I've taken. She is very opinionated in how things are supposed to be done, and surprise surprise, it's her way or the highway. It doesn't matter if I do something differently but still get the right answer, because if it is not done in the exact way she taught it, you get points knocked off, which is just stupid

This class is extremely difficult even for students who are good at math (like myself). Professor Sands was okay. She takes forever to grade your participation problems, not leaving you much time to work on it for credit. But she's pretty helpful if you're confused on a topic.

If you're someone who isn't very good at math like me, Professor Sands is quite difficult. Each week you have a discussion and a quiz as well as a linear project & the final but because it is an online math class, you do have to teach yourself most of the work. She was very nice but is a tough grader and expects you to know most of it already.

I finally have a Math teacher that explains what/why I messed up a problem. She doesn't just tell you what numbers were incorrect. Couldn't be more pleased. I don't know what grade I will ultimately get in this class, but the professor is certainly willing to teach the material in a way I understand.

This professor did NOTHING to further explain topics. Even when emailed and posted in the student discussion area. Her responses to answers to quizzes were horrible. I had a tutor review my work and this lady still marked the stuff wrong with no detailed explanations.

I don't understand some of these reviews about Instructor Sands. She is a laid back instructor who cares whether her students pass or not. She responds to emails promptly, engages in the discussions, and offers help frequently if it's needed. Homework is done online, tests are her own. I highly recommend this instructor!

There is a lot of work to be done in this class. However, if you suck in math the way I do the extra work helps balance out your grades. There are discussions, quizzes, 2 homework assignments a week, plus projects. No videos, but if you are able to figure out how to ask a question she will answer. Project description is really clear.

Very organized teacher with fast feedback and clear instructions. The class was hard, but since her class was well organized it was one last thing I had to worry about, like finding things etc. She gave constant reminders what was due, and when!

Professor Sands was a good teacher. Her class was not the easiest, tough grader at times, but fair. It took work to get an A in this class. She offers quite a bit of extra credit which can improve your overall grade. She is helpful and answers questions you might have. I would take her again. I recommend her.

I absolutely recommend taking Math with this professor. She understand the anxiety that comes along with this subject and really works hard not to add any extra stress. She gives grace periods and extra credit. As long as you put in work you will do well in her class. Great professor!
