Comment:
This class is a joke. Each week is something entirely different, but with nothing to link them but being related to film, it becomes boring. And you wonder why you even have to take it. Tom is pretty chill, and luckily doesn't treat the class more seriously than it really is.

Tom was an interesting guy. Still not sure what the class was entirely about, but each week was a new and interesting topic that I typically had no prior knowledge about. Tom had a tendency to go on and on about something not related to the topic at hand, but he tells good stories and the class is really easy.

Awesome guy, very insightful and entertaining! Knows his stuff, and is always happy to be teaching. Not the easiest to get a hold of during office hours, but a wonderful teacher nonetheless!

If you have Tom for film, its because you are a freshman and its mandatory. You get to sit and listen to him ramble for 2 hours a week. Nobody knows why this is mandatory except that its kind of an institution of the film program. He's pleasant enough. Cries often. Andy Warhol namedropper. And its pretty easy to just skip the class too.

I had Tom for Colloquium, so all I really had to do was go to class, sit down and watch all the films he screened and then listen to him mumble as he chewed on his cigar. You get to watch a lot of good shorts in Tom's class, but his mumbling CAN drive you nuts (though, if you raise your hand and ask him to speak louder, he'll usually oblige)

Even though he doesn't look like it Tom is a really cool dude. He made the broing colloquium somewhat interesting. He is really passionate about student's work...he even broke down and cried one day when he told the class that we should try new things with our movies at NYU. lol and dont mind him always chewing a cigar....you'll get used to it

If you take Dyrsdale, be friends with him and be in his clique. He can be very rude, once telling me that if I used my common sense, I wouldn't bug him with my questions. Another time I tried to ask him a question and he goes "don't talk to me now." He's also badmouthed kids behind their backs, calling them arrogant asses.

Prof. Drysdale was very friendly with you, IF you were in his little clique of favorites. He graded assignments based on his and his clique's opinion, and many students got screwed over. I was VERY into Photography before this class, and after taking a class with him, I determined that Tisch School of the Arts was not worth the $40K a year with pro
