Mr. Nguyen's class was my breakthrough with Math. If you are willing to work for it, and put in the time the class demands, you will ace it.

Comment:

The 263 summer course should only be taken if you are extremely strong in math and have no further math requirements beyond 263. Mr. Nguyen stresses the importance of the material in future classes, then sprints through the material. Mr. Nguyen is a good teacher, but the summer semester is simply not long enough to properly cover the material.

He is the best teacher I have EVER taken. If you want to get an A and be ready for Calc go to all his classes if you have any question he will answer it! He does the most to make sure his students understand concepts ignore the bad reviews and make it your priority to take him.

Comment:

At first you won't understand him because of his accent but little by little you'll catch up on it. Love how he does examples step by step and it's so understandable not only that but he always goes through a test reviews before a test and its almost the same questions as the actual test so I do recommend being there when he does test reviews.

He is hard to understand at first but you get the hang of his accent. If you need a teacher who teaches a problem step by step i recommend him. Personally enjoy his class and his teaching style. If you understand the study guide you will understand the test.

He spends 3 weeks on chapters 1&2, you get so behind that you're rush you through the rest of the course & many things are left out. If brought to his attention he will tell you to hire a tutor. Hire a tutor to teach what you have already paid him to teach. He will say there is no time to cover everything in the course. Yet all other teacher can.

Great professor. I'm the typical "barely going to pass math" student and I was shocked to receive an "A" in his class. But this was all because he was clear throughout his lessons. He has a strong accent but its understandable. HW and quizzes are extra credit! You can take the quizzes up to 15 times! Highly recommend!!

I was concerned taking Twin Wins' (This is how to pronounce his name) class. But, Mr. Nguyen is a bona fide bad ass. If you are not willing to work hard and show up everyday, look for someone else. If you have clear goals and 263 is in the way, take his class. He makes time for you and cares.

Comment:

Not good at teaching, doesn't follow book. Unrealistic amount of homework assigned each week. He failed at reviewing for the final because his teacher style held us behind causing us to have to rush through the last few lessons and his idea of a "review" which was just reading old problems out loud. Wouldn't recommend.

Nguyen is a great professor. His accent may be hard to understand at first but I promise you the difficulty of understanding it will go away. He gives a very detailed review sheet before every test that shows problems that are very identical on the test, he will also work through every single problem on the sheet. He is very organized.

I took this course over summer, and the first day I heard him talk and it was kinda hard to understand him but after awhile I didn't even notice his accent. He explains everything easy and simple. Then for tests he gives credit for even trying to do it.

He's a great teacher. He may have an accent, but it doesn't get in the way of comprehending the material. He gives lots of extra credit out. Sometimes there may be a lot of online homework, but remember that you have lots of extra credit just incase you have other priorities for harder classes! Highly recommend!

Don't expect it to be a walk in the park, but if you show up EVERY day & take clear notes, do your HW, you'll do fine. Most all assignments were online, which was actually cool; I spent a lot of time studying & in the Math Learning Center--get help immediately when you need it, & you'll enjoy this class. Also, his math analogies were hilarious!

The topic is tough and I am not going to lie, his heavy accent almost scared me off. However once you get past his accent, his repetitive teaching style and helpful tips made this difficult class much easier. I took it doing Summer so is was jam packed, I am sure it is less intense during a normal semester.

Comment:

You don't need the textbook, just MyMathLab. He goes pretty fast, but goes slower if you need him to, just speak up. His accent is heavy, but easy enough to understand. He grades really nicely, giving partial credit. Quizzes are extra credit. I highly recommend him, he's a great teacher and really makes you understand. I would take him again.

Comment:

At first, it was hard to understand him due to his heavy accent. After a while, it starts to become normal and easy to process. His notes are very clear although he does go fast; no time to think slowly. His tests are relatively easy. Workload is easy as well. Quizzes are extra credit. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to actually learn math.

Goes over the notes so fast that you barely have time to write them down let alone process the actual problem. His speech an handwriting are very hard to understand. It's the longest most boring class i have ever taken. You will essentially be teaching yourself in this class. I only suggest taking it as a last resort. Funny at first but gets old
