Comment:

Good teacher, almost all information is delivered through lectures and everything else is online readings and journal articles. Knows her subject and is obviously passionate about it. 4 Tests are 80% of grade. The two writing assignments (other 20%) can be difficult, since you have to address a somewhat complex topic in few words, but it's doable.

Comment:

While I really enjoyed this class, the tests will really kill you if you don't do well on every single one of them. Would study for hours and would keep getting high Bs and the essays(while easy) wouldn't raise my grade at all. I attended every single class and there would still be some questions on the exam that she didn't go into enough depth for

Comment:

Sims doesn't post her powerpoints online so you have to attend class and write your own notes or ask a friend if you can't make it. The only grades are the four exams and two essays. The exams seem to be geared more towards psych majors, not an easy "A" like other majors hope psych classes to be. Great discussions in class. Love her.

Comment:

Dr. Sims is a very intelligent professor and psychologist, but this class was made much more difficult than it needed to be. You have to put way too much time and effort into this class in order to do well. If youre not a psych major maybe look at other professors.

Comment:

I absolutely loved Sims for developmental psych! She provided great lectures in class as she wrote on powerpoints, and answered all student questions possible. Attendance isn't graded, but you will struggle if you miss as you have to get notes from classmates (we know how that goes...). It is only graded by a few tests, which are easy if you study.

I had Professor Sims for Developmental Psych and I absolutely loved her and the way she taught. Instead of reading off of the PowerPoint slides, she writes on them during lecture. Outside of class, you only have article readings, there's no textbook, so you have to go to class but she makes it so interesting, there's no reason for you to not go.

Professor Sims will help you if you meet her halfway. She supplies awesome lectures; I enjoyed every single one. She is fantastic in her teaching ways with psychology. There is a lot of work, so don't slack. If you stay organized, this course is a breeze. She answers your emails in a timely manner and will answer any questions you have.

Dr. Sims is an amazing professor and lecturer. The material and tests start out relatively easy but as you go along her exams definitely become more difficult and the averages go down as well. Journal articles can be difficult to understand (ask ?s!), there is no textbook, and if you miss a lecture you will miss question(s) on exams. Go to class.

attendance isn't graded but the class is harder if u don't show up bc she doesn't post notes online. lectures are interesting and so are the articles u have to read for each module. if u don't study/don't pay attention then u wont pass. the concepts are easy to understand, u just have to be willing to put in the time. easy A if u do.

Lectures are packed full of information from beginning to end but she is very good at explaining things and answering all sorts of questions. Very kind and overall amazing professor!

The whole class itself are exams and two papers. The papers are easy 100, if you just to what they ask for. Her lectures are great, she is funny and very interactive, but you can definitely pass without showing up to class. She does however make you read plenty of articles on top of the lecture notes... but they are pretty interesting. exams are ok

Prof Sims gives an average of 8 peer reviewed articles and 8 videos, past the required text, a week to read and be asked non academic questions about them on the exam. The questions on the exam are unpolished, vague, and highly debatable. Psychology department had to ask her to change my grade twice.

Comment:

She was a very nice professor, but this class was much harder than it should have been. Even with a 6 week course there was too much information. Exams are pretty much the course grade, and some questions were too picky for the amount of articles/readings.

Proff Sims is nice and you can always ask her anything she will help you. Summer course 6Wk Alot of info, too many articles to read that might not even be mention in the exams; takes to long. Exams multiple choice & 4writting. NOTES 2hr in class is better to record since she goes fast. Shes overall nice and just study notes and understand deeper.

Don't take her class during summer! It's such a fast paced course and there's so much information. She also assigns SO MANY articles to read that are very long, that are on the tests too. This class was way more difficult than it needed to be. I'm not sure if I would recommend her. She's nice, not the best teacher, but she has potential.

Comment:

Sis do not take during the summer. It is a lot of info, grades are based on tests & she assigns lots of reading that will be on the test but not lectured about. I got an F on the first test however did better after understanding what her tests were luck. I would take her again as long as its not a 6 week course.

This class is SO difficult. Let me start by saying I am a straight A student and this class was insanely difficult. She assigns so many articles to read and she goes at such a fast pace. She rushes through class. You cant see her notes outside of class and thats the only thing she bases her class on since there is no book. Do not take her!

Comment:

I would do ANYTHING to have this woman be my professor for every class. Cognitive psych is real difficult and she made it great. Negative part- only graded through tests. And the tests aren't easy. She was extremely inspirational for me and I wish I could have taken more of her classes. No textbook. No powerpoints. Everything is lecture.

Comment:

She's super nice and bases her exams on EXACTLY what she talks about in class, plus some journal article readings outside of class. Overall extremely informative, she answers any question in great detail and is very knowledgeable. Class isn't very hard either.

This class was super easy and she was super clear on all of the grading criteria! Make sure you go to class for the notes because all the tests are based off those notes. Also make sure you read the journal articles because she asks questions directly from them on the tests!
