Madame Violette taught the first semester using English as a basis for learning French. The first day of the second semester, she began teaching French using French as a basis for learning because we knew enough French to do that. If we were really stuck, however, she'd back up and re-explain the concept in English. I thought this was wonderful.

Comment:

Madame is a great teacher, though she talks fast-be a quick note taker to keep up with her. She does have favorites, but generally likes all her students until she sees they aren't trying. She is willing to give lots of extra help and encouragement. I learned a lot from her and planning to take her for 102 as well.

It's a foreign language class, so obviously it's going to be difficult to most people. If you want an easy A, don't take this class. If you're willing to work hard and learn, which is the only way you will learn a new language, take her class. One of the sweetest and most understanding teachers I've ever had. She really cares about her students.

First, it seems like it would be absolutely cool and then her teachings get messy and she expects that you learn everything overnight but you DON'T - Why? Because she gives you ten billions of work to do. If you have no background in French and you have other classes to prioritize as well, do not take her. Oh, and she does play favorites.

You will pass if you show up, do the work and PARTICIPATE. I passed with a C, failed all the exams & got a D on the final, did none of the written projects but I showed up to class everyday and participated even though i was always wrong, if she knows your name she will pick on you to answer questions, on the spot! do the oral report to pass !

Wonderful teacher and so sweet. If you put in the effort and try hard, she will see that and that will help your grade. I even got frustrated with the people that just didn't care. Participation is a huge requirement, but if you want to learn a foreign language it's a really great class. I learned a lot of the basics.

I think Violette is good teacher. She does give "cookie points" but that only made me participate more.Do not get on her bad side she can be mean, but most of the time she is very sweet and kind. I would recommend her class. She is very helpful! If you are looking for an easy A dont take her class

Learning a language isn't easy but she will go the extra mile to help you learn. Those who give her bad ratings must have not been trying too hard because if you study and try your best it won't be that difficult of a class. She's extremely kind and will push back a test if she sees the class isn't ready or if you ask her. Great teacher!

She is NOT a good teacher! I almost complained to the Dean about her because she plays favorites, & mean to students for no reason. Really, she needs to retire. I love French & I hated it after taking her. Take Mrs. Nabulsi instead, she's very nice & a very good teacher. You'll really learn. She should teach 102, way better/clear/caring teacher.

Learning a foreign language is not simple, so I do not recommend this class to anyone who plans to slack off. Mrs. Violette is a great teacher who is dedicated to her students education. As long as one puts in effort and devote time to the class, there is no reason why anyone should fail. I would highly recommend Mrs. Violette.

For those who rate her bad, if you don't ask how do you learn if you don't talk how will you practice? She is superb teacher she goes the extra mile to help you in your assignments, she will do anything to help if you ask. Explains everything twice if you want. And a lot of time to do homework so you should be responsible.

Very demanding, she kicked my butt all semester but I learned so much. She is very passionate about teaching and loves her students but isn't afraid to give them some ulcers. I learned more the first class than I did the whole previous semester, but the workload is not for the faint of heart.

Nice teacher, tries to make funny the class.... a tip: NEVER EVER watch the clock to see how long is remaining!! I used to be the favorite student until she noticed that i kept watching the clock all the class... after that, she has been just weird.

Absolutely plays favorites- do not believe what anyone else posts. She picks a favorite in the class then repeatedly tell the rest of the class "why aren't you more like so and so", unbelievable! Never had a professor do that before ever. Doesn't fully explain things/gets irritated if you ask a lot. Take someone else if you don't want to hate frenc

Professor Vornicel is an instructor who cares about her students and wants them to get the most out of attending class and doing the the class work,homework assigned. When I get my corrected assignments back great care has been given as she corrects the mistakes I made. If you really want to learn French she is the one to take. 102 here I come!
