Hated this class. Bayer was not helpful, never answered my questions, and didn't take any time to help us understand if we didn't. Crash Course is the only reason I passed this class.

The material is difficult; however, Dr. Bayer does her best to help you learn. Test questions are straight from the slides, which are on Canvas. She curves every test, plus drops your lowest test score. If you ask to go over tests, she'll help you learn what you missed & gives points back if a question was unfair. She is nice, & I loved her class.

Professor Bayer is kind and cares about your success. Her classes are lecture heavy and can be dry, however. Complete the readings before class and it will help. Through the Mastering Biology portal, there are quizzes and students can continue taking them until they get 100%. These are a great way to boost your grade.

This professor actually told us not to ask questions from previous lectures. She is hard to contact, and considers her class average to be a C. She grades on a bell curve, so grading is not solely based on the merit of the students, but rather, the merit of ALL the students. Unhelpful. Her in-class quizzes are confusing, and so are her lectures.

Sorry guys but many of you are so off about dr Bayer. She is the best professor I have ever had far and away. She took personal interest in me and invested time in educating me and giving me research opportunities. None better in my not so humble opinion.

Professor Bayer is a very educated and intelligent professor. However, I am not learning anything new, but when the tests and assignments come around I felt I was never taught most of the material. She is insanely smart, but I don't feel she truly knows how to teach her BIO 1010 students.

Her class is hard, but it's possible to get an A if you put in a lot of effort. She's willing to work with students. She curves her tests, her test questions come from the PowerPoints which she posts on Canvas, the pop quizzes are easy, and she really knows what she's talking about. She is not quick to respond to emails.

She's friendly but her class is hard. I got an A but I always studied a min of 4 hours before a test. You have to read the textbook. One good thing though is her tests are based off of her PowerPoints. There's also pop quizzes (easy) so you have to attend class. Unless you're beyond amazing at biology, you have to put in a lot of effort.

I am a Biology student, her tests were UNREAL! She did not get through all the material we needed for the final exam,& she never updated grades or emailed me back about questions. I was walking into the final without knowing what half my grade was. She was dry to listen to, she is crazy smart & knows what she is talking about. Random Easy quizzes

Your grade is literally only based on the 5 exams she gives since there's no homework or quizzes. She lectures off powerpoints that are available on canvas and tries her best to answer your questions. She's a very intelligent person so it's sometimes hard to keep up with her. Takes FOREVER to put in your grades but curves the exams really nicely.

Flies through information and reads off of power points so attendance isn't mandatory. However, she knows what she is talking about and is very caring and willing to help. She curves tests and doesn't give a lot of assignments other than tests. Changed syllabus to help students, flexible deadlines, and made study guides for tests.

She is good enough instructor, got the lessons across. Quite dry to listen to. Writes own tests and are hard to interpret the answer from what was discussed in class. She responds quickly to concerns in regards to class conflicts, and is very adaptive to needs.

Honestly, this class was rough. I was so excited to take physiology but it just felt like I was taking chemistry again and didn't pertain as much to the PRACTICE of medicine/nursing, which 90% of the class was going into. She never posts grades on Canvas or gives feedback on tests so you never know what you don't know. I just felt lost all semester

Dr. Bayer is an amazing teacher. She is very passionate about what she does and is willing to help students in ANY way that she can. Very open about what is expected. with her coursework. She grades tests quickly, gives feedback and lets the whole class know test averages and how much each test will be curved. Definitely would take again.

Dr. Bayer is incredibly knowledgeable. That said, this class is very information heavy. Focus on making flash cards from her slides. I hardly attended the lectures, but the class was still very time consuming. The tests are super hard and long. You will spend a lot of time studying, but you'll learn a lot. Not an easy A.

Great teacher, definitely knows what she is talking about. Lots of very interesting material, I just wish it went at a slower pace so we could go more in depth. Will definitely take Dr. Bayer for future courses if applicable.

No communication, grading was not completed in a timely manner (actually, grading wasn't done period), students were left scrambling to figure out what was going on. Everything felt disorganized. Won't be recommending. It was massively disappointing.

The tests are highly concentrated on what is on her powerpoints. She usually adds points to tests to bring the average up to 70 so tests scores are boosted. Her lectures can be long and dry and she moves very quickly. The book is VERY helpful and you can get the older versions that she mentions and still be okay. She encourages questions.

Lectures are all from powerpoints which she just reads. There is a lot of information and it is hard to sort through what is important and what is not. She does curve her tests and class attendance was so low she started giving extra credit questions.
