Comment:
Absolutely brutal, spiteful comments! Her style as a tutor is biting and bitter, in both email correspondence and academic feedback. It reflects poorly on Athabasca U and is immensely discouraging, making you dread future feedback. Even when you finally figure out what she wants (lots of 'support'quotes), she is still stingy with the marks.

She is a fantastic professor, 110% recommended! I was never great in English and I thought it would be hard, but Virginia definitely made the course bearable. There is a lot of work involved in terms of reading but maintaining good communication with the tutor is essential. Virginia replied to emails quickly and gave really good feedback.

Comment:
I have taken other English courses through Athabasca (with different professors) and had high expectations for this course. That changed rather quickly after being assigned to this prof. Terribly late at grading assignments, ignoring emails (waited for a month, then re-send email), still no response. Tough and mean marker. Only her opinion counts.

Comment:
Honestly, Virginia was one of the worst professors I have ever had. She was extremely late at assigning grades and inconsistent in her marking. I cannot imagine how her class would be if I did not already have a strong background in English. Avoid.

Comment:
I almost quit Athabasca as this was one of my first courses and she made it very difficult and was extremely critical, unapproachable and judgemental. Not what Athabasca should due known for. I am a fairly strong (academically) student so I can't imagine how it would be for someone who wasn't.
