Dr. Keeler is an extremely knowledgeable professor and loves the subject he teaches. He makes his class accessible to both anthropologists and non-anthropology majors alike. If you take this course get ready to write a lot. He is very keen on making his students better writers and will critique your papers very carefully.

Comment:
Extremely boring lectures, even for an anthropology major interested in SE Asia (which was the subject of the class). The readings aren't bad, but there's a lot to read. You really have to show up to almost every single class to get a good grade, it's attendance heavy. He's nice enough but I was not impressed

What an amazing professor, definitely take him! To be honest, at times the weekly reading assignments were a lot (sometimes 40-60 pages of analytical writing) but in the end, I learned so much in that class and the work was worth it. He genuinely cares about your opinion and insight and loves class participation. Would definitely take him again!!

Dr. Keeler is one of the most intelligent, well- traveled, and respectable people I have ever met. He is extremely nice, sometimes lectures a bit boring or he gets on a tangent about history, but overall the course material is super interesting and applicable to real life. I have come away from that class with a more broad world view

I love Keeler. He's kind, a little quiet, and relates content to everyday life. He makes it easy to pay attention because he's interesting and a cute old man. The class itself was super easy, just pay attention, do the readings/watch the movies, show up to section.. or don't. Either way, you'll be fine.

Keeler is an amazing lecturer and his class is very interesting. The reading he assigns are kinda long and tend to be to detailed for this class - I would recommend skimming the reading to get the general idea, which is all you need. GO TO CLASS! if you just go & listen this class is an easy, easy A! 3 short essay tests and weekly responses.

I took this class because I enjoy the study of anthropology, however a majority of those enrolled were taking it for core credit. I would recommend the class for both reasons. It's interesting, but requires very little effort. No textbook, 2 short essay in-class midterms, and a take-home essay for the "final exam" that you get a week to write.

He did not take attendence in my class at all. I thought he was a very interesting teacher and I learned a lot. The TA sessions didn't really help that much, but the TA's do take attendence. He was very helpful and personable. He actually took the time to learn your name in a class of 100+. Take his class if you have the chance.
