He is honestly a 2.5/5. He makes you buy his course packet, and it's useful if you just add your own notes on it. A bit hard to understand because he digresses a lot, but is manageable. If you're stuck with him please attend class or else it will be docked from your grade.

Very passionate. But his lectures are sometimes all over the place because he rambles on about things he finds interesting. I recommend ignoring his lectures, just read the book and take notes (book is free). His weekly quizzes are easy if you read, and tests are very similar to the sample tests on the student packets. Everyone is quiet in class...

The lectures were entertaining enough to keep my attention and all the assignments were clearly laid out. He was dropped the lowest quiz and wasn't too much a stickler about attendance as I was frequently 20 minutes late. He has his own booklet with all the needed notes and practice test in the back that were very similar to the real tests.

I found Prof. Guthries's teaching methods to be very difficult to understand the material. He lectures the whole time and makes students buy his textbook that isn't very helpful. Only some of the sample questions were on the actual test. If you come to class everyday you get extra credit, but without it it's pretty difficult to ace his class.

I absolutely did not pay attention at all the entire semester. He rambles on and on about off subject topics the entire lecture, and you can barely understand what he's saying half the time. BUT, if you show up to every class, you get 100 points extra credit. Helped my grade out a lot. Study packets almost identical to the exams. Do the readings!

Long, boring, yet off-subjected lectures. Blabs for 1&1/2 hours staring in the back of the room's ceiling going off tangents about history that makes no sense without actually looking at students in the eyes. Majority of the class is on their phones, fb, etc. Quizzes every week. No visual aids whatsoever. Most confusing lecture outlines Ive seen._.

This guy is a good professor, his lectures can be boring and confusing at times but that is due him going off on tangents with hypothetical situations. He rewards you for showing up to class everyday with extra credit. It's easier to build off the lecture notes you buy for the class than to start it from scratch. The test are easy if you study.

His lectures are long and boring. He is very hard to keep up and is teacher who yells when he's talking. Attendance is plays a part of grade. Weekly quizzes from books we read. His test are very straight forward though. He has no textbook. His study packet is a must because it has exactly like the test. Get another teacher if possible. Good luck.

his lectures are very boring, his voice is so monotone its hard not to fall asleep in this class. he gives quizzes at the beginning of each class so attendance is mandatory; the homework is just the readings. he does go by the book so i highly recommend reading it. i wish i would have picked a different teacher who explained things more clearly.

Lectures have little to no written visuals aids. He offsets this by giving you a thorough packet with an outline of every lecture. Weekly homework/quizzes are easy if you read and understand basic idea of each section. I showed up every day, barely attempted the final (~40%), and STILL got an A. If you can't get an A here, you're doing it wrong.

I got an A in this class but it was very hard to pull off. His lectures don't really follow his packet, he is unclear on what is going to be on the test, etc.. Unless you're going to go insanely out of your way to get good grades (which I did), save yourself the trouble and don't take a class with Guthrie.

Worst professor ever. Dwells on stupid things so it makes it hard to take notes. Yeah, the packet you need to purchase has a lot of study guides and outlines but basically your whole grade reflects on the test...confusing study guides, stupid tests

This class (western civ 2) was easy, as long as you studied the sample tests. I liked the curriculum, the focus was on political revolutions from the french revolution, to communism, to national socialism. He doesn't get too biased, either, which is refreshing after all the leftist commie instructors we seem to encounter in college lol ;)

HW is reading the textbook for quiz at the end of every class. 2 midterms and final. Each exam has five parts. Part 1 : short-answer questions. Part 2 : M/C. Part 3 : harder short-answer questions. Part 4&5 : 1 essay of each part. Easy A.

One of those easy but boring teachers. Has a packet filled with outlines of lectures. Daily readings that are quizzed on. 100 pts just for showing up to class. Practice tests are very helpful! Study that and you'll get a good grade. Overall easy A

Most organized professor ever. There is a packet with lectures lined out, great for note taking. Also includes sample tests for the 2 Midterms and Final exams so you know exactly what to expect. His lectures are long but I found them interesting. Weekly quizzes based on reading from the textbook are short. I recommend him!

He's a very upbeat professor and does his best to keep us engaged(boring though). He gives you extra points for coming to class. As long as you study the packet/lessons and and REALLY understand how to take his tests, you will pass. If not, the best you can do is probably earn a C which is passing. Make sure you study the sample tests!

I would recommend taking this class. He offers a packet with lecture outlines and sample tests with half the questions on the exams coming from this packet. He gives you 100 xtra credit points for attendence, is a fair grader & drops your lowest few quiz scores. He is a funny guy although lectures can be dry he does his best to keep it interesting

Great teacher. Really. He was very organized and I retained the information. It's a very easy class if you're willing to work (i.e, listening to lecture and studying).
