Isbell is THE BEST TEACHER EVER. He LOVES HIS STUDENTS, AND HE LOVES ENGLISH. Take him if you get a chance!!!! He's an absolute riot, and he has more knowledge than anyone I've ever met. He's 100% willing to help you on essays or assignments if you're lost. He's left a lasting impression on me.

I enjoyed this class. I don't love English, but he made it kind of exciting. He grades pretty hard, but he was fair. Go to class and make a bit of outside effort and you will be fine.

this cat has style to spare, and smarts to boot. his knowledge is expansive, though not clearly organized in his brain, his lectures are of a stream-of-consciousness kind, think faulkner with a dash of morrisey, and you'll be close.

Anyone who did not enjoy his class is a whiner and expects to have a grade handed to them without reading the material. He was really funny, treated his students like equals, and assigned very little work. He is by far my favorite instuctor in my college career. Take this class.

If you are sick of boring, dumbed down classes where you spend three weeks talking about how to use a comma, you will love this guy. He's funny, challenging, and if you read and show up and speak you'll do fine. I looked forward to going.

He was really hard. He went into a lot of detail and didn't seem to care a lot if you didn't understand. He always just assumed you did, and if you tried to as a question he would just laugh it off like it was your problem. Not a good teacher. Stay away!!!

He actually taught me sophomore English in high school before he started teaching college, and now I'm about to graduate with my BA in English. This fall I'm starting my Masters work in English. All this to say that he was the one who inspired me.

I LOVE this guy! He's hilarious. There's is little work you have to do for the class. We only had to do one outside 4 pg paper, 1 in-class essay, and a final exam that he gave us the questions in advance for.

Class is kind of boring, lots and lots of discussion. He really puts you on the spot. I didn't like being called out like that when I didn't understand the material. Related a lot of the material to sex. We only had 3 grades for the semester.
