Online. You could do no reading whatsoever and not buy the book at all and just google the information on the inane tests and probably get an Adefinitely a B in this class. Doesn't demand that much time. If you do take notes, the book is brutal, but does offer a great chance to get awesome at highlighting as the main points are kind of buried.

an easy "A!" He literally gives you the test to study off of. There's no way you can flunk if you go to class everyday. He's boring, but he has such a passion for the subject. Great class!

He gave a lot of time to do the quizzes, essays, and readings. The tests were not multiple choice. The book is ok, but the chapters are not super long.

Dr. Smith is an amazing instructor. I've taken his classes at Chemeketa. I will never get tired of listening to him teach his lifes passion. There are no other Anthropology instructors for me. To take a course from someone else would be disrespectful (in my opinion). He knows so much I was to keep him around forever and learn everything he knows

Awesome professor! Did not have an interest in the material, but just listening to his passion and enjoyment over what he was teaching was enough to keep me engaged.

The online class was messed up for the first couple of weeks. The instructor kept asking us to check the syllabus which was a file that could not be opened for the first 2 weeks. Could not get an answer what and when assignements were due. Overall this was worse online class I have taken. Once all the issues were fixed, the content was easy

Really great instructor. Has a sense of humor and is entertaining as well as knowledgeable. He has a lot of interesting stories too. His class is mandatory, and if you study the vocabulary you will get an A on the tests. Love his style, and I'm looking forward to taking more classes from him.

Awesome class, awesome instructor. Took a minute to get used to his teaching method, but class was always interesting. There were only 4 test and there was one extra credit assignment available. He gave test questions during class. I plan on taking more of his classes later on, and would highly recommend him. Over all just a fantastic class.

I just took a class from Smith for the fist time and he is very enthusiastic about what he teaches which makes it just that much better. You should show up to all his classes only for the fact that his lectures are great and help alot. He also gives the questions to his tests so thats great. I think he is a brillant man. Take ATH215 if you can!

I took him online. You really only need to log on 4 times the entire term. You read the entire textbook. The tests are 20pts with no midterm or final. You pretty much just read and answer the questions. Be sure to pay attention when you read because some of the questions are specific. But you can also Google them as well so w/e works for you.

Fun at first, but his tests are ridiculous. One question read "The _ is relative to the _ of _" How are you supposed to learn ANYTHING if you don't know what he's even referring to? Absolutely absurd. He is very enthusiastic but is very scatterbrained and has no time for students. Also, finals we were tested on material he never covered!!!

I love Dr. Smith, he's very intelligent and has an amazing teaching style. You never get bored, he has interesting stories and he literally gives you the answers to the test. Grading is based on four 20pt quizzes, 20pt for attendance, and he gives an extra credit assignment. Awesome class, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended <3

I took this class online but I feel it would of been better in the classroom. I hardly talked to instructor or noticed his presence. You read the whole text book which is interesting and you have to write a essay and test every 3 weeks. Enjoyed the information but no class involvement. I never talked to my classmates.

This professor is well traveled and really knows what he is talking about. Take him seriously when he says that you need to attend every class and be on time. He wil give you the test questions in the review for each test. I don't know what you would have to do to fail his class, but if you do, maybe you shouldn't be in college.

Dr. Smith is a great! One of his degrees is in linguistics and I love that he breaks down terms to explain their meaning. He covered all the material and every class was interesting. He also explains what will be on the tests. Take his class, he is awesome.

If you attend his classes consistently, there is no way to fail. Bill literally GIVES you the test questions a few days prior to the test. There is no guessing. Pay attention, take his notes, write down the test questions...and you will easily have an A. I took three classes with him and they were all the same format.

Wonderful professor with lots of energy and enthusiasm! Smith has experience in all four fields of American anthropology and engages students with lectures, film, P.P. slides and artifacts. Occasionally, he will say something erroneous, but for his eccentricities he is still a fantastic professor. His classes are intriguing and thought-provoking!
