Frequently assigns projects for a topic, THEN covers the material once the projects are turned in. She's also not hesitant to insult students in front of the class, and is an absolutely horrible communicator. Further, she's completely unwilling and unable to help students who need it. Avoid her if at all possible.

I really like this teacher. She draws out everything on the whiteboard so it's easy to visualize and understand. Programming projects are somewhat vague, but only one is complicated. Stuff I was lost on in assembly was made so basic once she drew it. She provides slides online to use, but having her explain it is so much easier if you show up.

Professor Chen covers lot of content in class but for an exam just need to study 25%. Projects are also super easy. If you put little bit effort not difficult to get an A.

Class was fine. The group project was tricky, but is doable if you have the right technology for the project (website, use a web framework). Tests were fair and although she reads from a lot of powerpoints, she makes it extremely fair by going over which slides are on the test. Decent professor.

Required class with a required group project. You will not learn as much about the subject as you will about the pathetic programming skills and lousy work ethic of the majority of the Computer Science Masters students at this school. If you want to really learn something, you will be really disappointed with the way Dr. Chen runs this class.

2nd time taking class, and she is so much clearer than other professor. She makes the topics seem very easy, uses slides and writes on the board. There is open classroom discussion, AFTER a good lecture over topic so many students participate, Great Professor so far! Homework may be a little unclear but others have had worse unclear homework!

As others have said, the lectures are mainly her reading the book-provided slides. She does have knowledge of the topics and you can learn if you delve into the right subjects with her. As long as you are semi-present and do your work, you should get an A.

I skipped 95% of the classes and I still made an A. She literally repeats herself over and over as well as just reading right off the slides. Her assignments were very unclear and lacked direction. Take her for an easy A; Take someone else if you want to learn.

You can skip half of the classes and still make an A. If you did well in Software Engineering, this class is a breeze since she's mostly just repeating the content from Soft. Eng. Java is required for assignments, which are easy especially for a 4000 level class. If you actually want to learn something from this class, take it with someone else.

Quite a mediocre professor. She simply repeats what's on the slides. I suggest avoiding this professor if you want to retain any love you ever had for computer science.

No pratical sense whatsoever! Thinks teaching's simply repeating what's in the book or by others. Typical fresh college grad knowing nothing about practical reality. Like many others, makes it uselessly easy to cover her rear & (alas!) get her tenure!!
