Comment:

Cervantez is one of my favorite professors so far. The class can get a bit boring because of the documentaries she talks quite a bit (wants you to converse with her).The class is easy but there is readings every week, some papers and a creative project at the end (forgiving with the grades especially if you show effort). Easiest A possible

Comment:

She's a very sweet lady but wow this has to be the most boring class Iv'e ever taken. Class consists of her talking nonstop and watching documentaries. The class was easy though, a few papers on museums you have to visit, 2 midterms, and a final creative project. Overall easy but sooo boring, and get ready to read a lot!

Comment:

Verrrry nice, sweet, and knowledgable lady. She is helpful to her students and answers questions fairly well. There are some museum exhibit papers to do and a final creative project which was pretty cool. She did cancel class a good number of times and can be a bit unorganized, but overall she's a pretty good professor. I do recommend.

Professor Cervantez tends to cancel class a lot. However fails to inform students until after class was supposed to start. There is a couple papers about visiting museums that are about 2 pages long and one final project. Ther is A LOT of group discussions and reading that made the class really boring for me, but the class overall was an easy A.

First 4 weeks of class she missed. Sometimes without letting us know ahead of time, which becomes really annoying. Lots of readings and group discussion. She skips a lot and forgets where she left off. 1 final ART project and small 2pg paper. 2 essay midterms visiting museums. She doesn't return work. As long as you do the work, easy A.

I thought this class would be lecture based, but there are weekly readings which are discussed in class. She'll ask for your opinion, but not in a negative manner. Respectful and humble. There is LOTS of art in this class. Invest yourself emotionally, put in the thoughtwork, and it WILL pay off. Funny, relatable, you'll leave feeling like family!

I loved this professor. For one she knows a lot about Chicano & Chicana art and her readings were really interesting. I highly recommend her because you'll end up learning so much! Plus, she encourages discussion because she likes to hear every single one of her students opinions, and she respects the student's thoughts as well!

I LOVED her class! super easy. requires alot of reading but the readings are interesting. NO TESTS NOR FINAL. instead of a final a fun project . Midterm was open notes. ESAY EASY EASY. professor is awesome and helpful.

Very clear and helpful. Made us buy 3 books and only worked from 1book the role semester. She is very cool and helpful, she knows what she is talking about. Expects you to do the readings but she will go over it in class. Easy class, she does tend to cancel class. But doesn't hold you responsible for it. Always accepts work through out the sem.

Class is fairly easy. She is very sweet and you can tell she knows alot of her culture. Class was cancelled alot and assignments were constantly postponed. Only one test[open notes] but you have to do all the reading in the book and take good notes & a final project which was fun.

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. She's a very sweet woman and loves the topic taught; however, 75% of classes is always canceled. Assignments are always postponed (like a midterm we had towards end of semester that was put of 5 times). This class can be difficult and has a lot of take home readings. Her textbooks are custom and purchased from a publisher.

Professor Cervantez's Day of the Dead class is amazing. On Tuesdays you usually discussed the readings that talked about the history of the Day of the Dead. On Thursdays you work on your projects and watch films that contextualize what you are learning. I did all my projects and reading and arned an "A." I recommend this class and Professor.

How to pass this class: write down all the terms she repeats, focus on the article 'religions of mesoamerica'. do the take home report. do the project final (which is fun if u don't leave it to the end, which feels horrible cuz u don't have enough time to paint)and u got an A. i learned a lot.i didn't read, but since she does repeat alot,i did fine

Prof Cervantez is very nice, helpful and passionate about her work but she makes the course boring. Do not take her 3 hour course!...you will regret it. Easy class, just do the work and you will get an easy A.
