Comment:
He does a good job of motivating different topics in the class. There's homework every week except non-test weeks and is generally 5-6 questions, some with multiple parts. Dr. Kasman is very accessible for questions at any time. His lectures are almost exactly whatever he put on the lecture notes for the day, which are easily accessible on oaks.

Comment:
Alex knows his stuff with math and does a good job instructing. However, his passive aggressive and condescending personality are distracting from the class. He treats you as if you are inferior and lacks compassion. The homework is online and is somewhat tedious. The tests are doable if you know your stuff.

If you like math, this is the professor for you. Even the best student in the class has something to learn from him. He even grades on proper notation. If you hate math, you should still do fine. He gives lots of partial credit on problems and if you do the homework then you will get everything mostly correct, even with mistakes.

Comment:
Alex Kasman is the worst teacher I've ever encountered. He has made me, an extremely driven, straight-A student, detest math. I came as a STEM major, but thanks to Alex, I never want to interact with math again. He is accusatory and condescending to his curious students, forcing them away from their learning. He doesn't care about his students.

Most people struggled a lot with this class. It was difficult, but if you do hw & pay attention you can do well. I spent a ton of time in the math lab. Alex is super accessible but, for me, a bit intimidating. He gives practice tests before each test & a review day. If you make sure you can do the hw and practice tests, you can do really well.

Kasman is a great statistics professor. He posts all of his lecture slides and notes to OAKS so you can refer to it later. His tests are tough, but if you pay attention in class and do the online homeworks you'll be fine.

Alex is a good professor. I did struggle somewhat in his class but I still passed with a B. Great lectures, easy homework, however, test are NOT like the homework so pay close attention to notes. Visit office hours and pass exams/final and you'll be fine.

-asks to be called Alex which is kinda strange for a professor -assigns groupwork every wednesday that if you don't finish in class you must work on outside of class -Tests are hard -gives practice test problems but does not give answers to them so if you study them wrong you might be screwed

Go to class, do the homework and you will be well prepared for the tests and final. Makes class time enjoyable, just don't ask about anything other than the material being covered.

You won't be doomed by taking his class but honestly there are better professors. He's rude and unnecessarily defensive. Again, it won't be the WORST thing to have him as a professor just pay attention, do your work, seek help from multiple sources if calculus isn't your strong-suit since he's not the best at answering questions (he condescends).

Has a hard time talking to students on a non-mathematician level. Makes you feel dumb when you ask questions which makes it hard to learn from him. I got a lot of help outside the classroom. No attendance policy but you will want to go. Not interactive with students during class does all the problems himself.

Best calculus professor. Go to class, take notes, do every webassign, and go to office hours when you need help. He is great and you will learn a lot. Class moves quickly so stay in step with the material. Also Alex is a math celebrity, ask him about Solitons if you want to learn about cutting edge math research.

Alex (he asks us to call him that rather than Dr. Kasman) is an amazing professor. He teaches clearly and in a way students can follow, even if they are not math majors. His tests always reflect what we've learned in class, and he was always available to help students through email or in his office. I would highly suggest taking him for Math 120.

Alex (as he prefers for you to call him) is an amazing math professor. Although he can be a little harsh, he gives great feedback. Go talk to him in his office and ask a lot of questions and he will respect you. Homework every night on webassign but do it that night and it's a breeze. He knows how to teach to make sure you understand perfectly.

Alex is really there for you and wants you to do well. If you do the work assigned and study for the tests, you will pass-- more than likely with flying colors. Would TOTALLY take him again. Best calc professor at CofC-- I LOVED him. Attendance not mandatory, but if he knows your name he takes care of you when it comes to grades.

I loved Professor Kasman. He is a very kind and considerate professor. The class on the other hand was alright. You can tell that he is very passionate about math in fiction, but the work you have to do is so time consuming. However, when we had to write the two papers, he gave us lots of advice so that the final paper got a good grade.

He's a great teacher! Brings in lots of examples to try and connect with everyone. You have to go to office hours at least once, as an assignment, but he's really flexible with the timing. Also gave some really entertaining lectures -- a local news station came in to film one!

Great Prof! Gives entertaining lectures on boring subjects and makes sure you understand everything. Unlike many profs he likes for students to come to his office hours and get help. He is a pretty easy grader with mildly difficult subject. He may come off a bit arrogant at times, but is a great prof!
