Professor Daum is a very intelligent man and I really recommend him to any type of student. This class was 3 exams and showing up to recitation. Show up to lecture, duh. It is an absolute breeze and actually enjoyable if you just show up. Did I mention to show up to class? Just be there, it really is an easy class, I cannot stress this enough!!

I've taken two classes with Dr. Daum and both experiences have been amazing. His passion for the material and teaching is blatant in his lectures. His grading is simple, 20% attendance and participation, two take home essays worth 20% and two tests worth 20%. His lectures are all posted. You don't need to read at all, just attend lecture and review

Comment:
Professor Daum is very knowledgable on the Third Reich and provides a very detailed outline on the course material. Despite this, his grading is quite strict and he is not a great lecturer. He has a lot of passion in his studies, but has not found a way for it to translate to the classroom for the students to benefit. Would not reccomend

After three and a half years in UB, Daum has been one of my favorite professors. He is a really nice guy, he's extremely straightforward, and his class doesn't demand too much time. He's actually really funny, and gives a lot of insight into German history and culture. I would recommend HIS 315 to all History majors, it was an amazing course!

Daum is an amazing professor. He is very interesting, knows what he is talking about in his lectures and tries his hardest t help students past if he sees that the students are working hard. He also makes his classes very easy.

Ill keep it simple. Lectures are super boring. He doesn't allow electronics. He goes quickly, but puts slides up on UB learns. He has two exams, and two essays each based off of a book. Attendance is supposed to be mandatory but i skipped a lot honestly and taught myself the material. I would suggest taking a different professor if you can

Andreas Daum is a wonderful Professor. Being the only exchange student in his German History class, Professor Daum really made an effort to make me feel welcome (he knows what it is to be a European overseas) and valued my skills and judgements. I would recommend his classes: they're culturally enriching, inspirational and thought-provoking.

A fantastic, approachable lecturer with a clear passion for history. You have to go to lectures and participate once in a while but it's not hard to do when the class is so interesting and well organized. There are three 1000 word essays, a simple midterm, and a final exam. Read the short readings to stay on track. Amazing class and professor!

I took Prof. Daum for German History and I loved it! He posts all the lecture handouts up online so you really don't need to take notes. As long as you go to class and participate from time to time, you'll do well. There's 3 short take home essays, a midterm, and a final. He's a a very fair grader and very approachable. I definitely reccomend him!

His World Civ class was harder than expected. Lecture was mandatory and dont dare bring a cell phone or laptop in or he will make it a point in lecture to call you out on it, and in Knox 20 thats not a good thing. His test are either pass or fail, either you know the info or you do not. Pay attention and go to recitation

Professor Daum's expectations were far too high. The final paper for his course was 8000 words, double what most seminars require. I participated a lot in class and tried hard on all the assignments but when he gave me an A- and said I didnt talk that much and I respectfully disagreed with him he was rude and did not respond back to me coherently

I have taken 3 classes with Dr. Daum in the last 2 years. His standards are a little bit high, but he more than makes up for it. Not only is he very friendly and helpful, I am fully convinced (as are my class mates) that there is nothing in the world this man doesn't know.

Horrible Teacher. He gave a final which he didn't teach a single thing on & had the audacity to not even show up & proctor the final that was on the last day of finalsweek at 8am. which could have easily been taken the last week of class cause it didnttake more than 50minutes even though probably 80% of the class failed the final AVOID at ALL COSTS

Daum is a prof who demands a lot of work out of his students, but genuinely cares about them and tries to help at every step of the way. He gives you lists of books to use for your papers, and is always available for help. Grading is prompt and he provides in-depth analysis and criticism. Readings aren't too bad. We need more profs like Dr. Daum.

Comment:
This class was about the the Third Reich. There should have been a lot of heated discussions and debates. After all, we are talking about an extremely difficult time in world history were most of the countries of the world made a conscious decision to "look the other way". If you're a "yes" person, you'll do fine. Otherwise, good luck.
