Comment:
For a discussion based class, you would think she would value her students' opinions more, but no. She actually had a system in which she would ask a difficult question and students would try to answer the question, but only she knew the answer and you could tell she absolutely delighted in that fact. It was a weird power move.

Definitely a tough professor, but not just because of the syllabus. This professor plays serious favorites and if you're not one -- good luck because your mental health will suffer.

Comment:
Ann Little is a cold, harsh professor who arbitrarily assigns grades. You could spend hours carefully researching and writing a paper and it wont be enough if its not up to her standards (which are never actually communicated). She traffics in academic elitism, condescension, and humiliation of students.

Dr. Little's graduate History 501 (Historiography) class was a great course. Some of our discussions got a little heated, but we generally were very open to each other's ideas as was Dr. Little. She is an expert in colonial American history. If you are considering her as a potential advisor I would recommend she be on your list.

An excellent professor that really knows what she is talking about and is fascinating to listen to. She has a very reading- and writing-intensive class, but it is completely manageable if you just put a little effort in. No tests, just essays. You will learn a lot, but consider taking her class when you don't already have a very heavy semester.

An excellent professor, but not one who accepts BS or slacking. If you try, you'll be fine. If you want an easy A and are in class to fill a chair, find another prof for both your and her sake.

Apparently she has upped her reading requirements. We were forced to read on average 150+/wk with a paper due every week beginning the 1st wk of class. No tests, just huge papers. The final is a comprehensive paper of the ENTIRE SEMESTER. VERY, VERY HARD PROF!!!

This is a HEAVY reading/writing class (100 pgs/wk, 7 essays/semester). If you read fast and write well, you will succeed in this class. She demands a very high level of thinking and discusses very complex thoughts. The homework in this class is TIMECONSUMING. My advice to everyone looking for a simple gen-ed. history class: look elsewhere.

I really enjoyed Dr. Little's class. You have a lot of reading to do and writing assinments. If you go to class, do the readings, and do the papers there is no reason you shouldn't get at least a B. I learned so much in this class! I would love to take another class from her because I did learn so much!

She is very knowlegable about colonial history and is passionate about history. She expects you to read a lot and essays are due every week, but no tests. Participation is important during discussion and helps you understand the content. I would take a class from her again.

It was the worst history class I have ever taken! Her grading system is ridiculous and so were the midterms, take it with someone else if you can.

Never, ever hated a history class so much! She made me want to scratch my eyes out! She definatly had favorites and if you weren't one, you were screwed. The group discussions were a big waste of time because she only wanted to hear herself talk.

Do not take this professor. She requires over 100 pages per week and grades extremely hard on her assignments.
